● Skype is free unless -
● you make a call to a phone number, which is cheaper
than a cell phone or landline, but it costs money & you
need to buy credits for your Skype account to use it.
● No one can Skype you unless you show that you are
online.
● You can set up to be notified if someone tries to contact
you
● I “block” people I don’t know

● For desktops and laptops o Google (or DuckDuckGo) for “Skype” and download
● For tablets and smart phoneso Go to the AppStore or Google Play apps and search
for and download the Skype app
● On Skype, ignore the “Add Credit” under
your name on the left - it’s unnecessary
● Click on “Contacts” and chose the ones you
want to see and talk to.

Why Social Media is Important
● It increasingly influences, shapes, and
makes the news
● It is widely used and influences people’s
behavior
● It is causing profound changes in society
(just as the printing press did)
● What you can’t avoid, you should know

We need to be involved with social media to
influence it in positive directions, to bring
balance to the less salubrious areas and
aspects, plus
Social media can add pleasure and fun to your
lives, and
can help you stay in touch with family & friends.
