The EME designed Education Centre really is the heart of the Mildura Eco Village. It was the fi rst building on the site and it was a leap of faith for the partners in the Sunraysia Sustainability Network to commission such a beautiful building on what was then a dusty barren site. Their vision and Luke’s design proved to be spot on – the Education Centre brought the site to life and it is now surrounded by a paved garden with a view to the raised beds that constitute the community garden, there is a solar distillation plant on site and the most recent addition is the Eco House. This is an energy effi cient retro-fi tted conite house that was moved from the old cemetery and provides a counter balance to the creatively designed Education Centre. It’s wonderful to see that the Mildura Eco Village has become a lively community centre.
