CHILDHOODgrowing up, my dad was a fan of classic rock. my mum preferred listening toballads or melodic songs with soulful voices, but she grew up in moss side wherereggae was popular. reggae and rock have always therefore been two of myfavourite genres: i was used to listening to them.i used to visit my nan and granddad and sit with granddad to listen to his recordsof 50s rock n roll elvis presley, chuck berry, james brown, ray charles etc. ibecame a big fan of the time period and genre and elvis is one of my favouriteartists.one song that distinctly reminds me of my past is puddle of mudds she hatesme. my dad always used to put his CDs on in the car and this was one of thetracks on it. when we took family rides we used to listen to it and sing along. iremember it so well because there was an expletive in the chorus and my 9-year-oldsister would proudly shout it, oblivious to what she was saying. my parentswould put it on to listen to her sing it and found it hilarious. 3. PRE-TEENSat the end of year 7 i gained a best friend in lauren hunt. in year 8, ourmusic taste began to evolve from chart music and n-dubz to what webelieved to be indie scouting for girls, kate nash and arcticmonkeys were favourites. in year 9 this slowly transitioned into agenre called pop punk. we both knew and were fans of blink-182which spawned our love of bands such as all time low, paramore andyou me at six. a steady obsession over all time low grew for both of usuntil we knew every word to every song, watched every interviewtheyd ever done, knew all the facts about each member and went toour first ever concert an all time low gig.a song that stands out for me is poppin champagne, one of myfavourite ever all time low songs and my favourite music video to date.poppin champagne 4. NOWi have recently experienced new pop punk summery, overly-American, feel-good songs. some examples of pop punk bands arethe story so far, real friends and major league, but my favourite bandat the moment are state champs. i am truly in love with the voice ofthe lead singers vocals and ive always been one to appreciate songsfor the talent of the singer. a favourite that i cant stop listening to issimple existence which is also a favourite of my boyfriends. we oftentake trips to southend to go to the beach and the arcades and to getin a summery mood we blare this song.
