What is the name of the Father?

The Apostle John records a remarkable statement made by our Savior regarding the Father’s name.

He said… “And I have declared to them Your name, (the Father’s name)

and will declare it…

Our Savior… John 17:26 NKJV

Yes! Our Savior said He had declared the Father’s name!

The NASV Bible translates John 17:26 this way,

and I have made Your name known to them, and will make it known…

The dictionary says the word ‘Declare’ means: To PROCLAIM, or to make known.

Question?

What then is the name of the Father that our Savior said He, Himself had declared and made known?

Before we begin…

Before we begin, we need to first answer the following question.

Do names matter to the Almighty?

If, from reading your Bible, you have come to see that names are very important to the Almighty, the first portion of this booklet will be a blessing to you.

We should consider...

If names are not that important why did the Almighty give special names to His people? More importantly, why did the Almighty give a special Name to Himself!

And... what is that Name?

If we could go back in time...

If we could go back in time and ask the disciples, “Would you take us to see Jesus?” They would have gotten a puzzled look on their face and said, “Who?”

You see, the disciples never knew the Messiah by that name. They would have said, “Please come, we want you to meet Yahshua, the Messiah!”

The name Yahshua, is pronounced like “Joshua” with a “Y.” The emphasis remains with the Almighty’s name ‘Yah,’ in the first syllable.

The History of the name ‘Jesus’

For nearly fifteen hundred years after our Savior walked the earth, the world had never heard the name “Jesus.”

The name Jesus first appeared in the King James Version revision of 1769, 243 years ago as an anglicized transcription of the Latin name ‘Iesus’ (KJV of 1611) which is a translation of the Greek name ‘Ieousus.’

By 1769, our Saviors original Hebrew name, had been *transliterated three times, in three different languages:

*transliterate: to write or print (a letter or word) using the closest corresponding letters of a different alphabet or language.

• The first, from Hebrew to Greek.• The second, from Greek to Latin.• The third, from Latin to English.

In 1384, John Wycliffe translated the New Testament to English for the first time. His only source was the Latin Vulgate. Wycliffe used the Latin spelling and pronunciation of Iesus.

The printing press had not yet been invented and only a few handwritten copies of Wycliffe's Bible were produced. In the 1450's, Gutenburg invented the printing press. Then, in 1526 William Tyndale translated the New Testament into the English language from the Latin Vulgate, along with the additional help of some ancient Greek manuscripts. Tyndale wanted the Bible translated into the language of the common people and many copies of his translation were printed with the help of the printing press. Tyndale was the first to use the letter ‘J’ in the spelling of the name Jesus. There was no letter ‘J’ in any language, prior to the fourteenth century in England. The letter did not become widely used until the Seventeenth century. This new spelling soon became pronounced by the people as “Jee-zuz.”

There was no letter ‘J’ in the original 1611 version of the King James Bible because it did not exist. James was spelled Iames. Jesus was spelled Iesus.

The letter ‘J’ was first used in the 1769 version of the King James Bible.*

* Perhaps the biggest difference between the 1611 and 1769 versions of the King James Bible is spelling. For instance, there was no letter "J" in 1611 so "Jesus" was spelled "Iesus." TheKJVstore.com

Another error... Yahshua, changed to Yeshua

There is another error that must be addressed when discussing our Saviors name. Some have mistranslated our Savior’s name, changing it from Yahshua, to ‘Yeshua’.  The error of changing Yah to ‘Ye’ is due to the manmade tradition of the Jewish priests. Their reverence for the holy name caused them to believe that it was too sacred to pronounce.

To prevent the pronunciation of the name Yahshua, the priests changed the vowel points from an ‘a’ to an ‘e’ in the Tetragrammaton YHWH, and omitted the letter ‘H’ altogether, resulting in ‘Ye’.

Thus, the name ‘Yeshua’ removes the Almighty Father’s name YAH and His role as Savior completely!

Scripture tells us we have only one Savior… the Father Himself.

‘I, even I, am the LORD, (Yahweh) and apart from Me there is NO Savior.

Isaiah 43:11

Scripture tells us the Father’s name is YAH, not Ye.

Look at the following scriptures declaring the Father’s name is YAH: (YAH - Strong’s H3050)

Exodus 15:2; Exodus 17:16; Psalm 68:4,18; Psalm 77:11; Psalm 89:8; Palm 94:7, 12; Psalm 102:18; Psalm 104:35; Psalm 105:45; Psalm 106:1, 48; Psalm 111:1; Psalm 112:1; Psalm113:1; Psalm 113:9; Psalm 115:17, 18; Psalm 116:19; Psalm 117:2; Psalm 118:5, 14, 17, 18, 19; Psalm 122:4; Psalm 130:3; Psalm135:1, 3, 4, 21; Psalm 146:1, 10; Psalm 147:1, 20; Psalm 148:1, 14; Psalm 149: 1, 9; Psalm 150:1, 6; Isaiah 12: 2; Isaiah 26:4; Isaiah 38:11; and we clearly see the Almighty's name is YAH in Revelation 19:1-6, as the multitudes praise Him saying, Halleluyah! Which means, “Praise YAH, you people.”

King David tells us plainly in Psalm 68:4 that the Almighty’s name is YAH. David writes:

“Sing to God, sing praises to His name; Extol Him who rides on the clouds, By His name YAH, and rejoice before Him.”

Our Savior Himself tells us plainly His name is Yahshua, not Yeshua.

…keep them in Your name, the name which You have given Me…

John 17:11 NASU

We know from scripture the Fathers name is YAH, not Ye. Because the Almighty’s name is YAH, the name ‘Yeshua’ is not only incorrect, it eliminates the Almighty’s name altogether!

Yahshua, is the correct name of the Almighty, our Savior.

The Almighty’s name is YAH in the Old Testament… but does the Almighty, as Savior, still have the name

YAH in the New Testament?

YES!

In the Old Testament, when you see YHWH (YAH-WEH) or LORD; it is proclaiming the Almighty’s name YAH, which is followed by a ‘descriptor’. The descriptor is the word ‘WEH’, which means, “The Self-Existent one” (I AM). So, the name YAHWEH means, ‘YAH - The Self-Existent one’ (I AM).

The Almighty proclaims His name to us in the New Testament and notice… He does not permit anyone… to give Him a different name. (Matthew 1:21; Luke 2:21)

“and you shall call His name Yahshua”

YAH, waited to give us His highest name in the New Testament!

Now, YAH combines His name with His highest ‘descriptor’!

What is His highest descriptor?

It is the word ‘SHUA’, which means “is salvation”. When you combine the Almighty’s name YAH, with the word SHUA, it means, “YAH is salvation”!

This is why the name Yahshua, is the name above all names!

The name of the Father is Yahshua!

How do you say Netanyahu in English?

• How do you say, “Chevrolet” in Japanese?

• How do you say, “Coca-Cola” in Russian?

• How do you say, “Yamaha” or “Mitsubishi” in English?

Have you noticed, proper names do not change sounds when moving from language to language. There may be some inflection here and there, but the name itself should be recognizable no matter what language you are speaking.

Listen carefully when people speak in a foreign language. No matter what language they are speaking, even if you don’t speak that language, you will be able to distinguish the proper names they say. It has nothing to do with what language you speak.

We say the names of people from foreign lands all the time without feeling the need to first change them into ‘our’ language.

People all over the world say the following names:Vladimir Putin, Mahmoud Ahmadinejad, Mao Zedong, and Che Guevara, without changing them.

Why is it the Hebrew names from scripture need to be changed?

Examples: Yahshua... has been changed to JesusMiryam... has been changed to MaryYochanan... has been changed to JohnYaakov... has been changed to James

Could this have been Intentional?

Scripture tell us,

There is salvation in no one else! God has given no other name under heaven by which we must be saved.”

Acts 4:12

Can you think of anyone, who from the beginning, has tried to alter, obfuscate and eliminate this name from both sight and sound?

We must remember that when the “priests” and “Sadducees” commanded the Apostles not to speak in the name of our Savior, they were talking about our Savior’s real name...Yahshua!

Scripture tells us YAH chose this name for Himself. He did not allow others to choose a name for Him. (Matthew 1:21; Luke 2:21)

The name He chose was Yahshua, which means, “YAH is salvation.”

Who is Yahshua?

He is YAH, the Almighty Father manifested in flesh… our Savior!

The Almighty Father’s highest name...

The Almighty Father’s highest name, Yahshua, has been transliterated, changed and seemingly forgotten over the centuries.

As amazing as it sounds, the name ‘Jesus’ has been in existence for only the last four hundred years. No one on earth, born before the 17th century, had ever spoken or heard the name ‘Jesus’. The reason simply being this name did not exist before that time.

Yahshua has blessed us however, because of our love and faith in Him! He allowed us to grow spiritually through the names that people have known Him by over the years. Names such as Iesus, and Jesus have been a blessing to us who used them because we have not previously known His real name.

What now are we to do with our new given knowledge?

I’m reminded of a time I mistakingly called someone I had met by a name not their own. This person very politely told me what their name actually was (I guess all of us desire to be called by our real name). Anyway, from that moment on I always called him by his true name.

And the LORD shall be King over all the earth. In that day it shall be—

“The LORD is one,”And His name one.

The Son (Yahshua) is the Fatherand ‘Yahshua’ is the Father’s name

Ephesians 4:6 tells us there is “one God and Father of all”. Since we know Yahshua is God, we know He is the Father.

Here is additional biblical proof that Yahshua is the Father.

1. Isaiah prophesied that the “Son” who was to come would be called “Mighty God” and “Everlasting Father”. (Isaiah 9:6) Yahshua was the prophesied Son in His humanity, but He is our Mighty God and Father in His deity.

2. Colossians 2:9 proclaims, “For in Christ lives all the fullness of God in a human body.” The fulness of God includes the role of Father, so the Father must dwell in Yahshua.

3. In addition to these two verses, Yahshua Himself taught that He was the Father. Once, when Yahshua was talking about the Father, the Pharisees asked, "Where is Your Father?” Yahshua answered, “You know neither Me nor My Father. If you had known Me, you would have known My Father also” (John 8:19). Yahshua went on to say, “Therefore I said to you that you will die in your sins; for if you do not believe that I am He*, you will die in your sins.” (John 8:24).

* We should note the ‘He’ in this verse is in italics, which means that it was not in the original Greek, but was added by the translators. Yahshua was really identifying Himself with the "I AM" of Exodus 3:14.

Page 13: What is the name of the Father? - Yahshua Ministries€¦ · What is the name of the Father? ... They would have said, “Please come, we want you to meet ... “Praise YAH, you people.”

4. In another place Yahshua said, "I and my Father are one" (John 10:30).

Some try to say that He was one with the Father much as a husband and wife are one, or as two men can be one in agreement. This interpretation attempts to weaken the force of the assertion Yahshua made. However, other verses fully support that Yahshua was not only the Son in His humanity but also the Father in His deity.

5. For example, Yahshua stated in John 12:45, “And he who sees Me sees Him who sent Me.” In other words, if a person sees Yahshua as to His deity, he sees the Father.

6. In John 14:7 Yahshua told His disciples, “If you had known Me, you would have known My Father also; and from now on you know Him and have seen Him.” Upon hearing this statement, Philip requested, “Lord, show us the Father, and it is sufficient for us.” (John 14:8).

In other words, he asked that Yahshua show them the Father and then they would be satisfied. Yahshua’s answer was, “Have I been with you so long, and yet you have not known Me, Philip? He who has seen Me has seen the Father; so how can you say, ‘Show us the Father’? “Do you not believe that I am in the Father, and the Father in Me? The words that I speak to you I do not speak on My own authority; but the Father who dwells in Me does the works. “Believe Me that I am in the Father and the Father in Me, or else believe Me for the sake of the works themselves (John 14:9-11).

Page 14: What is the name of the Father? - Yahshua Ministries€¦ · What is the name of the Father? ... They would have said, “Please come, we want you to meet ... “Praise YAH, you people.”

This statement goes far beyond a relationship of agreement; it can be viewed as nothing less than the claim of Christ being the Father manifested in flesh. Like many people today, Philip had not comprehended that the Father is an invisible Spirit and that the only way a person could ever see Him would be through the person of Yahshua, the Messiah. “God was manifested in flesh” (1 Timothy 3:16).

7. Yahshua said, "The Father is in me, and I in Him" (John 10:38).

8. Yahshua promised to be the Father of all over-comers. (Revelation 21:6-7)

9. In John 14:18 Yahshua said, "I will not leave you comfortless: I will come to you." The Greek word translated "comfortless" is orphanos, which Strong's Exhaustive Concordance defines as "bereaved ('orphans'), i.e. parentless." Yahshua was saying, “I will not leave you as orphans" (NIV), or "I will not leave you fatherless: I will come to you." Yahshua, speaking as the Father, promised that He would not leave His disciples fatherless.

Here are some comparisons which provide additional proof that Yahshua is the Father.

10. Yahshua prophesied that He would resurrect His own body from the dead in three days (John 2:19-21), yet Peter preached that God raised up Yahshua from the dead (Acts 2:24).

YahshuaMinistries.com 14

Page 15: What is the name of the Father? - Yahshua Ministries€¦ · What is the name of the Father? ... They would have said, “Please come, we want you to meet ... “Praise YAH, you people.”

11. Yahshua said He would send the Comforter to us (John 16:7), but He also said the Father would send the Comforter (John 14:26).

12. The Father alone can draw men (John 6:44), yet Yahshua said He would draw all men to Himself (John 12:32).

13. The Father quickens (gives life to) the dead and will raise us up (Romans 4:17; 1 Corinthians 6:14). Yet, Yahshua will raise up all believers at the last day (John 6:40).

14. Yahshua promised to answer the believer's prayer (John 14:14), yet He said the Father would answer prayer (John 16:23).

15. Christ is our sanctifier (Ephesians 5:26), yet the Father sanctifies us (Jude 1).

We can easily understand all of this if we realize that Yahshua has a dual nature. He is both Spirit and flesh, the Almighty and man, Father and Son. On His human side He is the Son of man; on His divine side He is the Son of God and is the Father dwelling in flesh.

The Father is the SonGod manifested in the flesh - 1Timothy 3:16and ‘Yahshua’ is the Father’s name

The doctrine of the Son does not teach that the Father so loved the world He sent another person, “God the Son,” to die and reconcile the world to the Father. On the contrary, it teaches that the Father so loved the world that He robed Himself in flesh and gave Himself as the ‘Son of God’ to reconcile the world to Himself (2 Corinthians 5:19) The one Almighty of the Old Testament, the great creator of the universe, humbled Himself in the form of man so that man could see Him. He made a body for Himself, called the Son of God. “God was manifested in the flesh” (1 Timothy 3:16).

Who was manifested in the flesh?

There has been much controversy… and much written… concerning exactly who the Apostle John was referring to when he wrote, “He was manifested to take away our sins”

1 John 3:5

John writes of “the Father” in verses 1-5. He then writes of the “purpose” for “the Son of God” in verse 8.

In 1 John 3:1-5, the Apostle John appears to write quite plainly about “the Father” being the one “manifested to take away our sins”

YahshuaMinistries.com 16

Page 17: What is the name of the Father? - Yahshua Ministries€¦ · What is the name of the Father? ... They would have said, “Please come, we want you to meet ... “Praise YAH, you people.”

Then, in 1 John 3:8 John writes,

“For this purpose the Son of God was manifested…”

To those who believe that the Almighty is “one person” there is no confusion or contradiction at all regarding these scriptures. We believe that the Father was manifested in the flesh and became the Son of God, the Messiah.

For trinitarians however, these scriptures have been the source of much confusion.

Let me explain why this is so.

It stems from the basic difference between those who believe the Almighty is “one person” and those who believe the Almighty is “three persons.”

Let’s look at these basic differences.

1. Trinitarians believe that the one Almighty consists of three persons, while those who believe ‘the Almighty is one person, simply believe that the Almighty is… well, one person and there are no ‘other’ persons involved.

2. Trinitarians believe it was the ‘second person’ of the three persons that became incarnated; while those who believe ‘the Almighty is one person’ believes that the Father, Himself… became incarnated as the Son of God.

YahshuaMinistries.com 17

Page 18: What is the name of the Father? - Yahshua Ministries€¦ · What is the name of the Father? ... They would have said, “Please come, we want you to meet ... “Praise YAH, you people.”

To say it another way, trinitarians say it was the ‘second person’ of the trinity, not the Father, who became man; while those who believe ‘the Almighty is one person’ believe that the Father, became man.

3. Trinitarians believe that the ‘second person’ has always been eternal, while those who believe ‘the Almighty is one person’ believe that the ‘Son of God’ did not come into being until His manifestation at the incarnation.

With these basic differences in mind, please read these scriptures for yourself…

1 John 3:1-8

(vs. 1) Behold what manner of love the Father has bestowed on us, that we should be called children of God! Therefore the world does not know us, because it did not know Him.

Beloved, now we are children of God; and it has not yet been revealed what we shall be, but we know that when He is revealed, we shall be like Him, for we shall see Him as He is.

And everyone who has this hope in Him purifies himself, just as He is pure.

Whoever commits sin also commits lawlessness, and sin is lawlessness.

(vs. 5) And you know that He was manifested to take away our sins, and in Him there is no sin.

Whoever abides in Him does not sin. Whoever sins has neither seen Him nor known Him.

Little children, let no one deceive you. He who practices righteousness is righteous, just as He is righteous.

(vs. 8) He who sins is of the devil, for the devil has sinned from the beginning. For this purpose the Son of God was manifested, that He might destroy the works of the devil.

Who is the Apostle John talking about?

We know John is not talking about a ‘second person’ becoming the Son of God because John was monotheistic! John did not believe God was two persons… or three persons.

What John is saying is that the Father manifested Himself in flesh and became the “Son of God” for the purpose of destroying the the works of the devil.

The “Son of God”… what does it mean?

During His trial before the Jewish leaders, the High Priest demanded of Yahshua, “I charge you under oath by the living God: Tell us if you are the Christ, the Son of God.” (Matthew 26:63)

“Yes, it is as you say,” Yahshua replied.

The Jewish leaders responded by accusing Yahshua of blasphemy.

Later, before Pontius Pilate,

“The Jews insisted, ‘We have a law, and according to that law He must die, because He claimed to be the Son of God.’” John 19:7

Why would Yahshua claiming to be the ‘Son of God’ be considered blasphemy and be worthy of a death sentence?

Question: What did the term, “Son of God” actually mean to the believers of that day?

The Bible actually defines the phrase “Son of God” in John 10:31-36. The passage tells us that some Jews wanted to kill Yahshua by stoning Him to death.

YahshuaMinistries.com 20

Page 21: What is the name of the Father? - Yahshua Ministries€¦ · What is the name of the Father? ... They would have said, “Please come, we want you to meet ... “Praise YAH, you people.”

Then the Jews took up stones again to stone Him. Jesus (Yahshua) answered them, “Many good works I have shown you from My Father. For which of those works do you stone me?” The Jews answered Him, saying, “For a good work we do not stone You, but for blasphemy, and because You, being a Man, make Yourself God.”

Yahshua then asked them if He was being accused of “blaspheming, because I said, I am the Son of God”?

The Jewish leaders, understood exactly what Yahshua meant by the phrase “Son of God.” In that culture the term “Son of God” was equal to saying He was God. The Jews wanted to stone Yahshua because He claimed to be God.

The expression “Son of God” was a phrase that meant Yahshua was the Almighty Father manifested in flesh. (1 Timothy 3:16) It did not mean that Yahshua was the Almighty’s offspring (compare John 10:33 with 10:36) or that He was a child of the Almighty.

It is always important to remember, these Jewish leaders were strictly monotheistic! When they said, “You, a mere man, claim to be God”, they were not speaking about a ‘second’ person in the Trinity! They were referring to the God of Abraham, Isaac and Jacob; the “I AM”.

John 8:56-58 records Yahshua trying to help them understand that He is the Almighty Father of the Old Testament.

"Your father Abraham rejoiced to see My day, and he saw it and was glad.” Then the Jews said to Him, “You are not yet fifty years old, and have You seen Abraham?”

Jesus (Yahshua) said to them, “Most assuredly, I say to you, before Abraham was, I AM.”

Notice that Yahshua called Himself, “I AM.” This is the same thing that the Almighty Father called Himself in Exodus 3:6 and 14. Yahshua was telling them that He was the God they worshipped - the God of Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob. And they picked up stones to kill Him (John 8:59) because He had declared that He was God.

Just before Yahshua returned to heaven the apostle Thomas said,

Thomas answered and said to Him, “My Lord and my God!” John 20:28

If Yahshua had never taught them that truth, why would Thomas say that? Thomas believed Yahshua was God and he declared it.

Also, notice the words written at the end of 1 John.

And we know that the Son of God has come and has given us understanding, that we may know Him who is true; and we are in Him who is true, in His Son Jesus Christ. This is the true God and eternal life. 1 John 5:20

Yahshua is the Mighty God and Everlasting Father (Isaiah 9:6).

And, Yahshua says of Himself,

“I am the Alpha and the Omega, the Beginning and the End,”… “who is and who was and who is to come, the Almighty.”

Revelation 1:8

I AM

The Almighty Father calls Himself “I AM” in the Old Testament.

Yahshua calls Himself “I AM” in the New Testament.

The Apostle John records many times when Yahshua refers to Himself as being “I AM”. “I AM” was known by the Hebrews to be the name the Almighty gave to Moses in Exodus 3:14.

In John 8:24 Yahshua said,

“Therefore I said to you that you will die in your sins; for if you do not believe that I am He*, you will die in your sins.”

* We should note that the ‘He’ in verse John 8:24 is in italics, which indicates that it is not in the original Greek, but was added by the translators. Yahshua is saying He is the "I AM" of Exodus 3:14.

In John 8:56-59, John records Yahshua saying…

“Your father Abraham rejoiced to see My day, and he saw it and was glad.” Then the Jews said to Him, “You are not yet fifty years old, and have You seen Abraham?” Jesus (Yahshua) said to them, “Most assuredly, I say to you, before Abraham was, I AM.” Then they took up stones to throw at Him…

Yahshua, the Messiah (the Son of God) declared that He is the “I AM” of the Old Testament. When Yahshua said He is “I AM”, He proclaimed that He is the Almighty, the Father come down from heaven to save His people.

In the Gospel of John, John writes of seven other instances where Yahshua refers to Himself as “I am”. In the book of Revelation, John writes of seven instances where Yahshua refers to Himself as “I am”.

Matthew 1:23 perhaps says it best:

"Behold, the virgin shall be with child, and bear a Son, and they shall call His name Immanuel," which is translated, "God with us."

So, when the Apostle John wrote this letter, it was common knowledge among the early church believers that the terms “the Father” and “the Son of God” were speaking of one and the same person. Every believer (and Pharisee too!) knew the term ‘Son of God’ meant The Almighty manifested in flesh.

So, this seeming contradiction, is no contradiction at all! It is easily understood when you realize they are one and the same.

With the advent of the trinity doctrine some 300 years later, these scriptures, which were once easily understood, now brought much confusion and turmoil into the lives of the new believers.

Sadly, it continues until this very day.

Did you know the disciples attributed the titles of the Almighty Father… to Yahshua!

All the saints and all the preachers in the first century Church understood who Yahshua was and who He claimed to be. “God with us.” They understood that Yahshua was the Almighty Father incarnate. The Almighty had always taught the Jewish people to be monotheistic, so they knew this meant Yahshua was the Father come down from heaven in the body of a man.

The apostle John referred to Yahshua as the “the first and the last” (Revelation 1:17; 2:8; 22:13); “the true light” (John 1:9); the “bridegroom” (Revelation 21:2); “Savior of the world” (John 4:42; cf. Isaiah 43:3-11). He also attributed to Yahshua the role of “Redeemer” in Revelation 5:9.

The apostle Peter called Yahshua the “rock” and “stone” (1 Peter 2:6-8; Psalm 18:2; 95:1); and “the Chief Shepherd” (1 Peter 5:4). The apostle Paul referred to Yahshua as the “rock” (1 Corinthians 10:4) and the “bridegroom” (Ephesians 5:22-33).

The Old Testament role of ‘Redeemer’ (Hosea 13:14; Psalm 130:7) is given to Yahshua, by Paul in Titus 2:13-14.

Yahshua, is the forgiver of sins in Colossians 3:13 and He is “Christ Jesus, who will judge the living and the dead.” (2 Timothy 4:1)

What is so special about these titles?

All of these titles are unique to the Almighty Father in the Old Testament but are given to Yahshua in the New Testament!

The disciples were steeped in the Old Testament and would have only applied these titles with great care. If they did not think Yahshua, the Messiah was the Almighty manifested in flesh, they would have never used these words to describe him.

The disciples considered Yahshua to be the Almighty Father, who came in the flesh.

The New Testament opens with a passage concluding that Yahshua, is Immanuel (“God with us”), which refers to the messianic prediction of Isaiah 7:14.

Again, since the Jewish people were taught to be strictly monotheistic, and knowing there is only one true Almighty, they knew this was none other than the Father.

Baptism in one name… Yahshua!

Go therefore and make disciples of all the nations, baptizing them *in the name of the Father and of the Son

and of the Holy Spirit.Matthew 28:19

*notice, “in the name”… is singular… one name!

If we search the scriptures, we will find that Matthew 28:19 is one of the most misunderstood scriptures in the Bible concerning the Almighty’s name.

Before we begin the next portion of our study on the Almighty’s name however, we must clarify something very important concerning the subject of Baptism in general.

One of the most nagging questions in Christianity is whether water baptism is necessary for salvation. The answer is a simple, “No, water baptism is not necessary for salvation.”

Requiring anything, in addition to faith in Yahshua for salvation is a works-based salvation. To add anything to the gospel is to say that Yahshua’s death on the cross was not sufficient to purchase our salvation.

To say we must be water baptized to be saved is to say we must add our own good works and obedience to Christ's death to obtain salvation. Yahshua’s death alone paid for our sins. (Romans 5:8; 2 Corinthians 5:21)

YahshuaMinistries.com 27

Page 28: What is the name of the Father? - Yahshua Ministries€¦ · What is the name of the Father? ... They would have said, “Please come, we want you to meet ... “Praise YAH, you people.”

Yahshua’s payment for our sins is appropriated to our “account” by faith alone (John 3:16; Acts 16:31; Ephesians 2:8, 9).

Therefore, water baptism is an important symbol for Christians. The action of being immersed in the water illustrates dying and being buried with Christ. The action of coming out of the water pictures Christ’s resurrection. Water Baptism however, is not a requirement for salvation.

The word Baptism means “immersion” and in the Bible it is not always referring to being immersed in water. Yahshua was desiring people to be ‘immersed’ in Him!

The whole gospel message is based on understanding that we are saved by and through the Holy name of Yahshua, our Savior! (Isaiah 43:3-11, Luke 2:11).

Yahshua wanted believers to be baptized (immersed) in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit. Matthew 28:19. What is that name?

The first thing we need to point out is the name is singular. This is significant. Yahshua tells us the Father, Son and Holy Spirit all have one name.

Notice that ‘Father,’ ‘Son’ and ‘Holy Spirit’ are titles, not names!

Yahshua wants people to be ‘immersed’ in the name (singular) that embodies these ‘titles’.

Let's now see how the hearers (as recorded in Acts) understood and applied the words of Yahshua.

Page 29: What is the name of the Father? - Yahshua Ministries€¦ · What is the name of the Father? ... They would have said, “Please come, we want you to meet ... “Praise YAH, you people.”

...be baptized in the name of Jesus (Yahshua) Christ... Acts 2:38

...and the name of Jesus (Yahshua) Christ, they were baptized... Acts 8:12

They were baptized in the name of the Lord Jesus (Yahshua). Acts 8:16

Be baptized in the name of the Lord. Acts 10:48

When they heard this, they were baptized in the name of the Lord Jesus (Yahshua). Acts 19:5

Yahshua said to baptize in the name of the ‘Father’ and of the ‘Son’ and of the ‘Holy Spirit’ (Matthew 28:19). That name is Yahshua.

This is not the only account of the Great Commission. Yahshua inspired other writers to record the same truth from different points of view.

When we look at Mark’s account we read:

Go into all the world and preach the gospel to every creature. He who believes and is baptized will be saved; but he who does not believe will be condemned. And these

YahshuaMinistries.com 29

Page 30: What is the name of the Father? - Yahshua Ministries€¦ · What is the name of the Father? ... They would have said, “Please come, we want you to meet ... “Praise YAH, you people.”

signs will follow those who believe: In My name they will cast out demons; they will speak with new tongues.

Mark 16:15-17

So we see that Mark records the command to go and baptize, but does not speak of a name in connection with baptism. However, we do see a mention of Yahshua’s name in the very next verse. More importantly, we need to look at how the apostles obeyed these commands which we will see in the book of Acts.

But now let’s look at Luke’s account:

Luke 24:47 …and that repentance and remission of sins should be preached in His name to all nations, beginning at Jerusalem. And you are witnesses of these things. Behold, I send the Promise of My Father upon you; but tarry in the city of Jerusalem until you are endued with power from on high.

So here we read a command to preach repentance and remission of sins, in His name (which is fulfilled in Acts 2). If we look at the preceding verse we see that the pronoun His refers to Yahshua. So, repentance and remission of sins are to be preached in Yahshua’s name!

Where do we receive the remission of sins? Well, let’s look at what Yahshua’s disciples did with this command:

Acts 2:38 Then Peter said to them, 'Repent, and let every one of you be baptized in the name of Jesus Christ for the remission of sins; and you shall receive the gift of the Holy Spirit.'

Page 31: What is the name of the Father? - Yahshua Ministries€¦ · What is the name of the Father? ... They would have said, “Please come, we want you to meet ... “Praise YAH, you people.”

So we have three different accounts of what Yahshua commanded His apostles at the Great Commission.

Now we look at how they obeyed Yahshua’s words.

We should take note that Yahshua died after the Passover, was buried for 3 days and was then on the earth for 40 days after the resurrection (Acts 1:3). From the Passover until Pentecost is 50 days (Pente - means 50). So only about a week transpired between Yahshua commission and Peter’s sermon on Pentecost. Surely they didn’t forget His command that fast!

It is also interesting that Matthew, who later wrote Matthew 28:19 was present as well (Acts 1:13). We would expect him to stand up and stop Peter if he was preaching the wrong thing! (“Hey Peter, don’t you know that Yahshua said...” But we don’t see that. So we need to reconcile these two facts:

Now, who would be in the best position to understand the meaning of Yahshua’s words? Us, 2,000 years later; or His own disciples with whom He was speaking?

Throughout the book of Acts, will see they baptized people in only one name… and that name was Yahshua.

Yahshua said this: They did this:

Matthew 28:19 Go therefore and make disciples of all the nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit

Acts 2:38 Then Peter said unto them, Repent and be baptized, everyone of you in the name of Jesus (Yahshua) Christ . . .

When we read the Epistles to the churches, we find that they too baptized in only one name… and that one name wasYahshua.

So, it is obvious that Yahshua’s disciples understood ‘the name’ of the Father, Son and Holy Spirit was Yahshua!

NOWHERE in scripture do we find anyone being baptized using these ‘titles’… but only in Yahshua’s name!

Acts 4:12 There is salvation in no one else! Yahshua has given no other name under heaven by which we must be saved.

While this verse is not talking about baptism, we see that Yahshua is the name by which we are saved, and that there is no other!

Acts 8:12 But when they believed Philip as he preached the things concerning the kingdom of God and the name of Jesus (Yahshua) Christ, both men and women were baptized.

Acts 10:48 And he commanded them to be baptized in the name of the Lord.

Acts 19:5 When they heard this, they were baptized in the name of the Lord Jesus (Yahshua).

Acts 22:16 And now why are you waiting? Arise and be baptized, and wash away your sins, calling on the name of the Lord.

So Peter, John and the rest of the disciples baptized in Yahshua’s name throughout Jerusalem, Judea and Samaria.

Page 33: What is the name of the Father? - Yahshua Ministries€¦ · What is the name of the Father? ... They would have said, “Please come, we want you to meet ... “Praise YAH, you people.”

Now let’s look at the other churches:

Romans 6:3 Or do you not know that as many of us as were baptized into Christ Jesus (Yahshua) were baptized into His death?

Galatians 3:27 For as many of you as were baptized into Christ have put on Christ.

The reason that we are baptized in Yahshua’s name is that we are being ‘immersed’ into Yahshua. We are taking on His name, similar to the way a woman takes on her husband’s name. We are saying that we belong to Yahshua and we are identifying with Him in His death and burial.

In addition to those in Rome, Corinth and Ephesus (as well as Jerusalem, Judea and Samaria), we see that the Christians in Colosse and those in the region of Galatia were all baptized in Yahshua’s name.

History shows us...

History shows us that the ‘Trinity’ Doctrine (Catholic institution) changed the way that people were baptized.

BRITANICA ENCYCLOPEDIAThe baptismal formula was changed from the name of Jesus Christ to the words Father, Son & Holy Ghost by the Catholic Church in the Second Century. – 11th Edit., Vol. 3, ppg. 365-366.

CANNEY ENCYCLOPEDIA OF RELIGIONThe early church always baptized in the name of the Lord Jesus until development of the Trinity Doctrine in the Second Century.

HASTINGS ENCYCLOPEDIA OF RELIGIONChristian baptism was administered using the words, “in the name of Jesus.” – Vol. 2, pg. 377. Baptism was always in the name of Lord Jesus until time of Justin Martyr when Triune formula used. – Vol. 2, pg. 389.

ENCYCLOPEDIA OF RELIGIONS: “Persons were baptized at first in the Name of Jesus Christ, or ‘in the Name of the Lord Jesus.’ Afterwards, with the development of the doctrine of the Trinity, they were baptized in the Name of the Father, and of the Son and of the Holy Ghost” (p. 53).

SCRIBNERS:“The original form of words were into the Name of Jesus Christ or Lord Jesus. Baptism into Trinity was a later development” (Dictionary of the Bible, Vol. I, p. 241).

Conclusion

Before we finish our study on ‘What is the name of the Father?, let’s read the following scriptures…

God is the LORD, Psalm 118:27

yet for us there is one God, the Father, of whom are all things, and we for Him; and one Lord Jesus Christ, through whom are all things, and through whom we live.

1 Corinthians 8:6

There is one body and one Spirit, just as you were called in one hope of your calling; one Lord, one faith, one baptism;one God and Father of all, who is above all, and through all, and in you all. Ephesians 4:4-6

Can you see that scriptures clearly teach that there is but one Lord, one God… the Father!

In the light of theses scriptures, when Thomas said to Yahshua, “My Lord and my God!”; are we to believe that Thomas was not also proclaiming Yahshua to be the Almighty Father?

Page 36: What is the name of the Father? - Yahshua Ministries€¦ · What is the name of the Father? ... They would have said, “Please come, we want you to meet ... “Praise YAH, you people.”

And… what about the apostle Paul, who called Yahshua…

“our great God and Savior.” Titus 2:13

Or, of Peter who tells us…

“This faith was given to you because of the justice and fairness of Jesus Christ (Yahshua the Messiah) our God and Savior.”

2 Peter 1:1

As one reads through the New Testament, all can see that there is only one name that is lifted up, glorified, magnified and repeated over and over again… The name Yahshua!

Listen to the Apostle Peter lifting up and glorifying the name of Yahshua…

“Nor is there salvation in any other, for there is no other name under heaven given among men by which we must be saved.”

You will not find another name in the entire Bible that is given equal or more honor and glory than the name Yahshua.

Let’s read a prophetic scripture in the book of Zechariah regarding the Almighty Father’s number and name.

And the LORD shall be King over all the earth. In that day it shall be—

“The LORD is one,”And His name one.

Zechariah 14:9

Can you see that as we read this prophetic scripture today, we are blessed to know the one LORD and one name that Zechariah was referring to.

It is the name of the Almighty Father, who manifested Himself in flesh to be our Savior… Yahshua!

I would like to leave you with this thought to deeply ponder…

If Yahshua is not the name of the Father, then the name of the Father is NOT in the New Testament!

But please know this…

The name the Almighty Father chose for Himself, is found 942 times in the New Testament!

And the name the Almighty Father chose as His… is Yahshua!

Salvation is a gift for you!

Salvation is a gift that we receive by faith. We cannot earn it through our deeds or works. We cannot obtain it by being a “good person” or by attending church. Yahshua earned it for us by dying for our sins on the cross. Our salvation is a gift that’s been made available to everyone who calls upon the name of Yahshua.

Ephesians 2:8-9 says this:

“For it is by grace you have been saved, through faith - and this not from yourselves, it is the gift of God - not by works, so that no one can boast.”

The Bible promises us that, “whoever calls on the name of the LORD shall be saved.” Joel 2:32; Romans 10:13

Acts 16:29-31 tells us that when the Philippian jailer cried out to Paul and Silas asking them, “What must I do to be saved?” They answered, “Believe on the Lord Jesus Christ, and you will be saved, you and your household.”

My friend, if you would like to make Yahshua the Lord of your life and receive His free gift of salvation, call upon Him now.

Here is a simple prayer that you can repeat for salvation:

“Yahshua, I realize that I am a sinner and am in need of Your forgiveness.  I believe in my heart that You died on the cross for my sins.  I ask You to forgive me of my sins and I invite You into my heart to be my Lord and Savior.  I receive You right now by faith and I confess You as Lord of my life.  Thank You for my salvation.  Amen.”

If you just prayed this prayer, congratulations!  You are saved and you are a new creation in Christ!

“If anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation; the old has gone, the new has come!”

Yahshua Ministries - What I Believe

1. YAH The Almighty Father’s name in the Old Testament YAH - Psalm 68:4; Isaiah 12:2; Isaiah 26:4; Revelation 19:1, 3, 4, 6 (see page 6).YAH-WEH means, ‘YAH - The Self-Existent one’ (I AM). I believe in a strict Monotheism. I do not believe the Almighty is ‘three persons.’ I believe the Almighty is numerically one.

2. YAHSHUA The Almighty Father’s highest name revealed - New Testament Yahshua is the name above every name!Yahshua literally means, ‘YAH is Salvation’.

3. The BibleI believe the Bible to be the inspired word of Yahshua and to be free from error in the original manuscripts when all grammatical, historical, literary and cultural issues have been considered. I believe the Bible is the only Yahshua-given authority which man possesses; therefore, all doctrine, faith, hope, and all instruction for the church must be based upon and harmonize with the Bible.

4. Yahshua, the MessiahI believe the Almighty Father of the Old Testament, became a man in the person of Yahshua, the Messiah. I believe the name Yahshua, meaning ‘Yah is salvation,’ is the Name above all names. Yahshua, is both fully the Almighty and fully man. He is the visible image of the Almighty Father. Yahshua’s deity is none other than that of the Father. As it pertains to His humanity, Yahshua was born of a virgin in time.

5. The Holy SpiritI believe that the Holy Spirit is none other than the Spirit of Yahshua Himself.

6. SalvationSalvation is a gift that we receive by faith.  We cannot earn it through our deeds or works.  We cannot obtain it by being a “good person” or by attending church. Yahshua (“God manifested in the flesh” 1 Timothy 3:16) earned it for us through His death, burial and resurrection.  It’s a gift that’s been made available to everyone who calls upon the name of Yahshua.

7. The Second ComingI believe that Yahshua died for our sins, was resurrected and ascended into heaven where he presently reigns. I also believe in a literal, bodily return of Yahshua after a time of Great Tribulation, both to claim his bride and to execute judgment on an unbelieving world.

8. Final JudgmentI believe there is coming a time when all who ever lived will stand before Yahshua to be judged and that all who are not saved will be cast into the lake of fire. I believe this judgment to be literal and eternal.
