What is the Get Console Private Server? The Get Console app allows IT technicians to access field device console sessions (for example console connections to Cisco, Juniper, HP devices) from a portable Apple device. And now with the Get Console Private Server, field service companies can host their own advanced version of the Get Console server software onsite, meaning faster performance and better security for reaching serial console sessions in the field. In addition to the greater security provided by an all private network solution, the Get Console Private Server offers the following additional benefits: Flexible Remote Access Client: The Private Server allows the remote access PC user to access the iOS device console session via any telnet client, such as “SecureCRT” or “putty” rather than the web-based client available on the Get Console Private Server website portal. Faster Remote Access Performance: As the Private Server is hosted within the clients own network, it offers a lower latency connection to remote access PC users – which in turn results in better end to end terminal speed than the Get Console public service. No More Remembering Session Codes: All live sessions available to the Private Server are visible from its integrated web portal, along with the iPhone/iPad name and other details, meaning the field engineer no longer needs to advise the session code to the Remote user SSL Certificate Option: Secure access from both the Apple field terminal and the remote users access with a yourcompany.com SSL certificate, meaning end-to-end encryption of remote terminal sessions Detailed Appliance Logging: Record who connected to what and when, and exactly what they did – useful for audit reports and troubleshooting Local Web Access Client: The Private Server also provides a dedicated web based console to access the remote iOS device serial session, which includes many common commands shortcuts and local session logging. “I found (Get Console) to be better in almost every way.” P.J. Hardware: The Private Server is distributed as a VMWare virtual appliance, it requires the following resources from the virtualization host machine:

• 1 64 bit CPU (Single Core)• 1 Gb Ram• 5 Gb HDD• 1 Network Card

Get Console App: The Get Console App version 1.4 or later must be installed on the Apple iPad or iPhone. In addition, the Redpark C2-RJ45 cable is needed to connect the Apple iPad / iPhone to the field device serial / console port.

There are some differences in the features available in the Private Server as opposed to the publicly available servers. In the initial release of the Private Server the following features available on the public servers are not available version:

1. Ability for iOS device to upload log files from iOS device to Private Server, however logs are captured for the remote users session automatically.

2. Ability for iOS device to download configuration templates from the Private Server, however configrations can be directly pasted to the iOS

device console session via the Private Servers web console.

All other major Get Console remote access features are available on the Private Server, in addition to the advantages of speed, security, ease of use and access flexibility.

The Private Server is free to download, however each unique iOS device wishing to connect uses a Client Access License (CAL) that must be purchased in advance from the Get-Console.com shop. Licenses are priced from under $14 each depending on the number required.

There are 2 support models for the Private Server.

1. Community support via our forum is free, as is access to our FAQ. The manual that is included with the Private Server is also comprehensive and covers most usage cases.

2. Telephone and Email support is available for an additional charge.

Get ConsolePrivate Server

Just like the Public version of the Get Console service, the Private Server acts as a connection broker between Apple iOS devices connected to field devices, and remote PC or MAC users at the NOC wanting remote access. The main advantage of the Private Server however, is that communication resides with within the corporate security domain, and generally is significantly faster.
