• These skills are habits, behaviors, and strategies that they can learn.
• By utilizing these skills daily, students become proactive learners who take responsibility for their learning.
AVID in a nutshell
• AVID is an in-school academic support program for grades 4-12 that prepares students for college eligibility and success.
• Each student keeps a binder with dividers for different subjects, a pencil case and takes notes daily.
• The students primarily use their notes as study guides to help them with their homework, or to remember key concepts from the texts they are studying.
• Notebooks will be checked and graded based on a rubric that students will be given.
College Bound! If students implement these organizational
strategies they will:
• Be prepared and able to handle more rigorous curriculum as they advance
• Be organized in a way that optimizes learning and understanding
• Have the tools to successfully graduate from college
