OLD BETTY BOTTA

Betty Botta bought some butter.

“But,” said she, “this butter is bitter.

If I put it in my batter, it will make

my batter bitter…but a bit of better

butter will make my batter better.”

So she bought a bit of better butter,

better than the bitter butter and

made her bitter batter better...So

‘twas better Betty Botta bought a

bit of better butter!

RHYME

I Had a Hippopotamus… (A-A-B-B)

I had a Hippopotamus, I kept him in a shed

And f ed him upon vitamins and vegetable bread

I made him my companion on many cheery walks

And had his portrait done by a celebrity in chalks

His charming eccentricities were known on every side

The creatures' popularity was wonderfully wide

He f rolicked with the Rector in a dozen f riendly tussles

Who could not but remark on his hippopotamuscles

I f he should be aff ected by depression or the dumps By hippopotameasles or the hippopotamumps

I never knew a particle of peace ' till it was plain He was hippopotamasticating properly again

I had a Hippopotamus, I loved him as a f riend

But beautif ul relationships are bound to have an end Time takes alas our joys f rom us and rids us of our blisses

My hippopotamus f ound a hippopotamisses…
