13th Amendment

• Ratified December 6, 1865• "Neither slavery nor involuntary servitude,

except as a punishment for crime whereof the party shall have been duly convicted, shall exist within the United States, or any place subject to their jurisdiction.”

14th Amendment

• Ratified July 9, 1868• Grants citizenship to all people born or

naturalized in the United States• Forbids denial of life, liberty, or property,

without due process of law• Equal protection

15th Amendment

• Ratified February 3, 1870 • "right of citizens of the United States to vote
