seminar agenda

The purpose of this one day seminar is to provide attorney’s with

information to assist with interpreting forensic medical records and

subsequent testimony of the SANE/Forensic Nurses in sexual assault

litigation.

Topics will include:

� Basic anal/genital anatomy

� Understanding the components of a sexual assault forensic evaluation

� Sexual assault injuries: What they mean & what they don’t mean

� Understanding and locating forensic medical reports

� SANE/Forensic Nurse qualifications: What do all of the letters really

mean?

� How do I ensure the testimony being provided by a SANE/Forensic

Nurse is valid & evidence based?

� SANE/Forensic Nurse testimony: Asking the right questions

seminar location & schedule

The seminar is being held June 5, 2015, from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. at the Mid-

Atlantic Center for Surgical Advancement, 7900 Shrader Road, Richmond,

VA 23294. Directions will be mailed 2 weeks prior to the training. A group

of rooms has been blocked for $89 per night at Holiday Inn Express,

9933 Mayland Drive, Richmond, VA 23233 (804-934-9300).

The cost of the training is $150. Groups of 5 from the same agency and

active duty military are offered a rate of $125. Lunch and breaks will be

provided. CLEs are applied for in Virginia.

Main Speaker Bonnie Price, DNP, RN, SANE-A, SANE-P, AFN-BC is the Director of the Forensic

Nurse Examiners of St. Mary’s Hospital. Mrs.

Price has lectured extensively on forensic

nursing topics and is certified as a Sexual

Assault Nurse Examiner in both adults/

adolescents and pediatrics.

Course Coordinator Sara Jennings, MSN, RN, SANE-A, SANE-P, AFN-BC is the Clinical Coordinator of the

Forensic Nurse Examiners of St. Mary’s

Hospital. Mrs. Jennings has been employed

as a forensic nurse for 7 years. Mrs. Jennings

frequently lectures on clinical forensic

issues and is certified as a Sexual Assault

Nurse Examiner in both adults, adolescents

and pediatrics.
