Before you upload a document, ask yourself – what does this say about me?

If you can’t think of anything, ask somebody else. Your family and friends will definitely be more positive about your achievements than you are.

The ability to study independently is definitely a good skill to have as employers want to employ people with initiative and people who can think of new and creative ideas.

You might upload a ‘before’ and ‘after’ test result. This will demonstrate resilience and determination.

How can I stand out from the crowd?

You’ll be surprised what your Drama Certificate or your English Literature essay can say about you.

Everybody thinks that their own interests and talents are less than impressive and that other people are far more interesting. Something that you might consider to be boring and mundane could really catch the attention of an employer.

Your History essay or your calculation in Physics could spark an interesting conversation with an employer at a job interview.

You never know who will be interviewing you, so you need to be honest about your interests to give yourself the best chance of standing out.

What if employers don’t think my work is good enough?

Employers look for ways to credit your work. They are not looking for ways to take ‘points’ off you if they don’t quite agree with some of the points you have raised or the arguments you have used.

They will not be assessing your work like an examiner; they will be more interested in the skills that your work illustrates and how you will add value to their company.

Having the initiative to upload a document in the first place will show your confidence, which is a respected skill to have in any job. No matter what you think of your own work, there will be employers out there that think it is great – just have confidence in yourself.
