Mechanical skills and those requiring physical prowess have declined as a requirement for success in occupa-ons over the last 150 years

has increased drama-cally over the last 150 years
Business, management, and informa-on technology are the most important knowledge factors across occupa-ons today.
Analy-cal and social skills are highly valued throughout the workforce.
Intellectual ability is more highly valued throughout the economy than physical and mechanical abili-es.
Cogni-ve abili-es have increased, though some -‐ like oral comprehension and oral expression -‐ more than others.
Counselors hold a unique and important role in helping students understand their career pathways.
