Whale Quotas;Should North Slope Community Quotas remain the same?

IWCPurpose is to review and revise whaling conduct by the countries taking part.
Set limits on size and number harvested.
Have open/closed seasons defined.
Protection of species.
Areas designated as whale sanctuaries.
Catch reports must be kept.
AEWC(Alaska Eskimo Whaling
Commission)Formed in August 1977.
Represent 10 communities; Barrow, Gambell, Kaktovik, Kivalina, Little Diomede, Nuiqsut, Point Hope, Savoonga, Wainwright, and Wales.
Purpose is to protect the bowhead whale subsistence harvest along with all cultural activities and traditions associated with the harvest.
Commission will also provide research and educational activities with regard to the bowhead whale.
