This donation was directed to the Single Room Maternity Unit (SRMU) at the BRHC and the Child & Adolescent Treatment Centre (CATC). For SRMU, a transport monitor to monitor fetal heart while sending mothers to the Surgical Suite for emergency caesarean sections and two Bilisoft phototherapy units to treat jaundiced newborns have been purchased. A laptop and projector for educational purposes has been purchased for CATC. Rotary Club of Brandon The Rotary Club of Brandon generously donated $20,000 to the Foundation for a the purchase of a BladderScan Ultrasound machine for oncology clinic and radiation therapy treatments at the Western Manitoba Cancer Centre. The machine will measure urinary output or bladder volume prior to radiation therapy treatment, vital to avoiding and minimizing acute and long term radiation complications in pelvic patients. You will now find it on our website at www.brhcfoundation.ca 2013 Gala Proceeds Benefits Patients The Foundation is pleased to announce that proceeds in the amount of $57,781 from the 2013 Gala Dinner and Dance fundraiser have been used to purchase an ECG (Electrocardiography) unit for Diagnostic Imaging, Cardiology Department and a Transport Ventilator for Diagnostic Imaging, Respiratory Department. The state of the art ECG unit will allow ECG tracings to be sent electronically to a workstation for reporting as well as to Electronic Health Records. The Transport Ventilator, with its smaller size and new technology, will be used for transporting patients by ambulance, including infants, who otherwise would require air transportation. Joining co-chairs Marci Crisanti and Brenda Burgess on the 2013 Gala Committee were Jodi Fawcett, Kerri Lynn Gudz, Kelly Lumbard, Sally Mott, Cheryl Nelson, Jill Stewart, Peggy Turnbull, Barb Webber and Terry Leech-Atkinson. The Gala dinner began in 1991 and has been one of the Foundation’s major fundraisers, raising $572,000 since inception. The Brandon Regional Health Centre Foundation is proud to support this initiative and will be raising funds to enhance the care and comfort of patients on the wards.
