Different Types of Campus Visits

Evaluate Your Current Programs• What are the purposes of the visits?

• How do prospective students schedule a visit?

• What training is provided for faculty, staff, ambassadors?

• What communications are provided to the…– Prospective students? – Campus community?– In what form/format is it sent?

• What is given to the visitors when they arrive?

• How are you assessing your visits?

• Whom are you asking for feedback?

Day of the Visit!• What happens when the visitors arrive?

– How are they greeted?– What information is given to them – itinerary, yellow bags, brochures,

meal passes for everyone?– Is there a “host” who takes them from one appointment to another?

• What activities do you schedule? What should happen to best show off your institutions? Whom should they meet?

Their goal is probably to spend 3-4-5 hours on campus – Admissions counselor - Campus tour – student led– Financial Aid associate - Performing arts audition– Faculty - Portfolio review– Coach - Sampling a class– Lunch/dinner in the dining hall

Day of the Visit!

• How does the visit end? What happens? What should happen?

• After the visit– Thank you note or letter for visiting– Evaluation – paper or online?– “It was nice to meet/see you!” postcard from the tour guide– “It was nice to meet/see you!” message from the faculty, coach– Tracking in database

• Using technology– What letters/communications can be processed through

communications management software?– Email, text messages, telephone, social media, etc.

• Present program at the – Middle and/or high schools with the student volunteers– On your campus – one school at a time– On your campus – Super Pep Rally

• Super Pep Rally– In the gym, invite area schools, early April– Involve campus community in breakout sessions– Vocal/instrumental performances– Sack lunches
