SATURDAY - SUNDAY September 8th & 9th, 2012 ‘THE WESTERN’

Sunday First SEMI Final - Island Park, Casterton

West Gambier V North Gambier

Finals really are a different ball game but that seems to be working in our favour. Saturday we were pleased to take 2 from 2 wins in Casterton. Our B Grade girls combined well to to take on Millicent & survived, winning 46-38. Best players: Eliza Short & Chloe Ashby (sponsored by Wylie’s Dairy). A smashing game from the U/13 girls saw them beat South 48-14. Well done girls! Best: Georgia Hood & Morgan Fisher. Sunday at home we were pleased to take away 2 wins from 3 games. A strong game enabled the U/15’s to cement their place into next Sunday, defeating South 41-17. Awards: Jamie Whan, Gemma Currie, Ady Neshoda & Amber Hood. The C Grade girls went out fighting. Whilst they held the lead for majority of the game, East’s momentum got the better of them in the dying minutes, defeating North by just 1 goal. Best: Brooke Winterfield (Jetts Fitness) & Danielle Kettle (Wreckett). A stella game from the A Grade enabled them to get on top of South, winning by 16 goals. Best: Nikita Block (KC&MR Boult) & Alisha Bryan (Neale & Nulty). Good luck to all teams as they continue along the finals journey. Let’s get behind them - Go Tiges!!

Last week we had two teams playing on Saturday at Casterton, with our A res and B Grade lucky enough to sit back and watch what was to unfold for them this week. The day started with the C Grade girls hitting the court against the Imps girls. We got off to a flying start, but Imps were able to claw their way back into the game. The Imps girls got to within two but then we were able to steady and run out victors by 16. It was a great overall team effort by the girls, with Kris and Soph judged best by Imps. Then the A gr girls hit the court. Portland had a good start, but we were able to claw our way back into it, only being 2 down at the half. The Portland girls then got the upper hand in the second half, however we didn’t give up, throwing everything at them, but they were too good, hanging on to win by 12, with Kahli and Amy judged best. Congratulations to Carly T who played her 100th game in this game. Carly is a valuable player in the A gr, and is an amazing player to watch. This weekend we now have C Gr and A Res starting the day, both coming up against Portland. We then have the B Gr girls facing North. Then on Sunday we have the A Gr girls also facing North. Good luck to everyone this weekend.

Saturday Second SEMI Final - McLaughlin Park, Millicent

Millicent V Portland

Hi All, Well what a weekend last week turned out to be with all teams still in the hunt for the prize at the end of the season. This week we see the A.Grade in a match against Millicent which should prove to be a great contest. Having met Millicent twice this season with twice going down our girls will certainly be out to turn this result around for a win. A.Res will front up to West Gambier, B.Grade will be up against Millilcent, C.Grade will play West Gambier, 17/under will play Casterton, 15/under will play North Gambier and the 13/under will play South Gambier. Good luck to all teams and again hope we come home with all winners in our bid to win the top prize. Yours in netball Rhonda Compton.

Today we welcome everyone to McLaughlin Park for the First Semi-Final. The A Grade girls play Portland after having the week off. It is great that they have the opportunity to play on their home courts and the crowd will be right behind them as they try to win through to the Grand Final. Audine and Donna have settled the line-up in the second half of the year and have been impressed with the development of their junior players. They will need to be at their best to beat the improved Portland line-up. Good luck girls! The B Grade Babes will be looking to bounce back on Sunday when they travel back to Casterton. They have been training hard and always have a lot of fun so I’m sure Bron will have them fired up to win through to the Pre-liminary final. Bad luck to the 13 & Under side who went down to a strong Portland line-up last weekend. A big thank you to Justine for all the hard work you put into developing the young team. GO SAINTS!!

SATURDAY - SUNDAY September 8th & 9th, 2012 ‘THE WESTERN’

The practise of sporting clubs celebrating their end of season with a trip away or ‘Mad Monday’ type event appears to be becoming more commonplace and can be a concern for clubs. This document is designed to assist clubs deal with the risks posed by such events.

WHAT ARE THE RISKS?

Participants in these ‘end of season’ celebrations often drink far in excess of what is recommended by health organisations. They either voluntarily engage in high risk drinking or are coerced into it by their peers.

HEALTH RISKS:

The short term health risks of binge drinking are numerous and include:

• Headachesandnausea

• Vomiting

• Memoryloss

• Lossofconsciousness(andinextremecasesdeath)

Binge drinking also leads to an increased risk of damage to both the individual and property. People are more likely to engage in risky behaviour while intoxicated such as swimming, driving, unsafe sex and violence, with potentially horrific consequences.

Long term effects of repeated binge drinking include brain and liver damage, depression and problems at school, work or in relationships. (1)

LEGAL RISKS:

Whether a sporting club would be liable for an injury suffered by a player or damage to property on an end of season trip or event will depend on the circumstances of each case. In particular, the extent of the club’s involvement in the organising and running of the event and the foreseeability of the risk or damage that occurred. There is a risk that clubs could be liable if they promote and endorse these types of activities to their members and fail to warn them of the possible risks.

Clubs can reduce this risk by banning or discouraging their members from engaging in end of season activities (although naturally they cannot prevent players from organising their own), warning players of the health risks identified above and following the guidelines below.

WHAT CAN CLUBS DO?

In order to reduce the risks to the individual and club, sporting clubs should not endorse or support any end of season celebration that involves excessive drinking. This means clubs should not hold any fundraising events throughout the year that helps subsidise these activities. If players still go ahead and organise their own event, the club should make it clear that it takes no responsibility for conducting it and express concern to members regarding their health and safety, as well as the potential for the activity to bring the image of the club into disrepute. Players should also be informed of any legal requirements regarding alcohol.

End of Season Celebrations

Page 7: Western

7

SATURDAY - SUNDAY September 8th & 9th, 2012 ‘THE WESTERN’

HOW TO REDUCE THE RISKS OF ALCOHOL RELATED HARMS AT END OF SEASON EVENTS:

• Meet with person / people organising the event and discuss what is planned. Identify possible risks and measures to be taken to reduce those risks.

• Ensure no-one under 18 is involved in the event.

• Clearly explain what the club considers acceptable and unacceptable behaviour. Unacceptable behaviours should include:

a) Drunkenness

b) Drink driving

c) Damage to property

d) Violence & assault

e) Verbal abuse

f) Any form of harassment

g) Anything that may bring the image of the club into disrepute

h) Anything against the law (eg. under 18 drinking)

• Meet with the whole group before they depart to explain the above – if this is not possible, meet with the organisers and ensure they inform other participants.

• For trips away, encourage transport that does not require anyone to drive. Where someone will be driving a bus, assist to organise a trained driver or ensure at least two people will act as designated drivers.

• Ensure driver(s) has an appropriate license and keeps zero blood alcohol content.

• Encourage regular meals, snacks between meals and non-alcoholic hydration throughout the day.

• Consider a ‘buddy’ system, whereby delegated participants agree not to drink and look after others.

• Encourage the use of taxis or a bus (and driver).

SATURDAY - SUNDAY September 8th & 9th, 2012 ‘THE WESTERN’

A Grade – North 57 def South 41

Best Players:North – Nikita Block & Alisha BryanSouth – Toni Sims & Chantelle Weir

In perfect conditions, North met South at Vansittart Park. North started the stronger of the two teams, scoring the first goal. Court play was fast and confident by North with controlled passing and no hesitation into their circle. Arial defence was a highlight of the quarter from both teams throughout. North’s Alisha Bryan was on fire in the circle shooting 12 of her sides 19 goals for the quarter. The intensity lifted for both sides during the 2nd quarter with South’s Tash Hemmings-Dunn applying plenty of pressure, trying to lift her side. Lisa King at GK also took some excellent rebounds to send the ball into attack for South. North defenders in Nikita Block and Alannah Campbell maintained their 1st qtr efforts to force errors from South, while Michelle Hosking and Alisha Bryan worked well in the circle for North. North was playing confidently and were tough in the challenges enabling them to be 12 up at half time.Half time scores – North 29 to South 173rd qtr changes made by South – Toni Sims to GA, Chantelle Weir to GS, Alyce Mourbey to GK and Lisa King to GD shifted the momentum of the game. Sims providing an option from the centre pass, into Weir shooting strongly under the post. South managed to outscore North 6 goals to 3 in the first 5 minutes of the quarter. South was moving the ball quickly through the mid court through Tash Hemming-Dunn, Di Gould & Tara Denton and any missed shots from North were turned over by King. However, despite South’s efforts, mid way through the term, North’s defensive pressure moved into top gear and North were able to settle and re-take control. North were able to hang onto a 10 goal lead heading into the final term. The wind picked up in the last quarter, and North were able to adapt quickly. Toni Sims shot well for South and remained calm under the keen eye of Nikita Block. South defenders never gave up, but Alisha Bryan was shooting accurately for goal quite a distance from the post. She was ably assisted by excellent feeding from Tanya Hood, Kerry Bilney and Michelle Hosking. An overall fantastic team effort from North, ensured them a comfortable 16 goal win.

A Res – Hamilton 51 def East 46

Best Players:Hamilton – Kristil Tekowlai & Ellen BlockEast – Bec Famularo & Amy Morgan

East settled in the 1st quarter sooner than Hamilton with some controlled play all over the court. East mid court players in Bec Famularo & Lauren Verdinis continually fed well to gaolers Tayla Gray & Rachelle McKay who converted surely. Hamilton shooters in Sophie Thornton and Tara Gould converted accurately but didn’t have as many scoring opportunities as East. East won the quarter 14 to 11.The 2nd quarter seen numerous changes to the Hamilton lineup with Megan O’Down moving to GA, Ellen Block to WA, Clare Block to WD, Kristil Tekowalai to GD & Jo McKew to GK. East’s Amy Morgan at GK worked tirelessly to try and stem the flow of goals to Hamilton, however Hamilton seemed to settle well with the new combinations and pegged back the lead of East to be just 1 down at half time.Half time scores – East 24 to Hamilton 23The third quarter belonged mainly to Hamilton (15 to 9) with Hamilton GS Sophie Thornton shooting accurately and using her height to advantage. Whilst East’s Bec Famularo continued to work hard in attack for East. Hamilton now held a 5 goal lead at the end of the 3rd quarter. The fourth quarter was an even tussle between the two teams (13 goals each), with another stand out performance from Hamilton GS Sophie Thornton who shot the 13 goals herself for Hamilton.Other good performers for Hamilton were Ellen Block, Georgie Gough & Megan O’Dowd as they supported and provided excellent drive and delivery to the Hamilton goalies. For East, Bec Famularo and Amy Morgan performed admirably throughout the game.Final Score – Hamilton 51 def East 46.

Well done to our three footy sides in making it a 100% strike rate in making the finals. This week sees our reserves and seniors starting there finals campaigns after a well earned week off after finishing on top of the ladder. Well done to Mick McRae in the Reserves and Tyson Currie in our Thirds for having an outstanding season thus far in front of te big sticks finishing the home and away season on top of the goalkicking ladder. Just for the record our last game against the Hamilton magpies was won in reserves and seniors with the reserves having a big victory Best were Matty Hensel, Dean Watson, Sam Whelan, Paul Griffith, Garth Willoughby, Gabe Tucker. The seniors also had a good win Best Richie O’Grady, Killer, Lee Symons, Matty Chapman, David Nulty, Troy Hosking.Well this weekend a new season is upon us, we start again, four points not on offer, but a bigger prize a chance to play for history and to play another day.Good luck to all North teams this weekend. Go get em Tiges Richard Copeland.

South faced off against Portland last week in both the Qualifying and Elimination Finals. The Reserves took to the field in the Elimination on Sunday and maintained a strong presence throughout the game, trailing by a goal at the first quarter and leading by two points at the half. Portland regained some control and lead by one goal going into the last quarter. Portland held onto that lead and were able to extend it, defeating the Reserves by 21 points. They drop out of the finals race now and leave this year’s hopes in the capable hands of the A-grade. The A’s mounted an early offense, taking out the first quarter by 15 points and maintaining that lead through to half time. That was as close as Portland got for the rest of the day with South taking a 5 goal lead into the last quarter and extending that to 7 goals by full time. Brett Exelby led the goals kickers with 6, followed closely by Brodie Foster and Jon Copping with 3 each. Lloyd Pearce-Raisin’s field work was outstanding earning him a BOG, strongly supported by Dion Stratford, Jack Primer and Brent Howard.Today we play off for a Grand Final slot against North. North have shown no mercy to any side this year, only dropping 3 games for the season. We have defeated all 3 of those sides in the last few rounds and go into the game confident that we can make it number 4.

LANDCAREVICTORIA

What is a catchment?

Geographically a catchment is an area of land that drains to a single low point such as

a gully, creek or river.A large catchment may be made up of a series of smaller sub-catchments and these are

made up of soil, water, air and vegetation. Together theses elements support life and

make up an ecosystem that within it has cycling of nutrients and other elements. Each

component is linked, so when one changes it has an effect on the other elements.

What is Integrated Catchment Management?

Integrated Catchment Management is a coordinated approach to the management of

natural resources. It is the integration of land, water, vegetation and other biological

resources for use in a sustainable, balanced way. ICM draws together all members of

the community to effectively manage the catchment in an integrated and holistic way.

ICM fosters joint action by all sectors of the community in an effort to co-ordinate the

problems and solutions within a catchment.Catchment Strategy – The Glenelg Hopkins CMA. Regional Catchment Strategy will be

built into a catchment management plan. The Murray-Darling Basin Initiative defines ICM as “a process through which people can

develop a vision, agree on shared values and behaviors, make informed decision and

act together to manage the natural resources of their catchment”.

This could be a commitment by the community and agencies of the catchment where

the overall aim could be that while addressing stream flows and stream health, to halt

the increase of salt and silt discharging from Fiery Creek and Salt Creeks and to reduce

overall salinity and silting in Lake Bolac. The adoption of the ICM approach is increasingly regarded as the most effective way

of dealing with environmental issues. ICM takes a ‘whole of systems’ approach and

avoids dealing with issues in isolation. It also recognizes the important role played by the

community in managing natural resources and advantages, such as increased mutual

understanding and effectiveness that results from a genuine partnership between

community and government.

SATURDAY - SUNDAY September 8th & 9th, 2012 ‘THE WESTERN’

portlandTIGER TALES IMpS NOTES

A mixed return from the first round of finals with

the Reserves taking pride of place with their

meritorious effort in knocking over a formidable

rival in South Gambier. Despite being hampered

by a loss of playing personel, the boys were

fired up from the first siren and proved to be

highly competitive all day. Daniel Kinghorn was

instrumental in setting up many attacks and

had 2 outstanding helpers in Jake Patterson and

Matt Herbertson. Kane Spencer with his 5 goals

proved an effective focal point whilst Marcus

Amor and Dylan Adams were constantly under

notice in a very even team display.

Not so meritorious were the Seniors who had

their colours lowered by a far more polished

South Gambier outfit. There were some honest

toilers with Ben Malcolm being the most

prominent. Others to lend support were Beau

Bentley, Justin Van Heugten, Sam Fleming, Jaron

Quinlivan, Denis O’Loughlin and Jarrod Holt.

This weekend sees the Seniors and Reserves take

part in the cut throat 1st semi final against Imperials

and Millicent respectively whereras the Under 18’s

battle with Imperials in the 2nd semi final.

Last weekend proved to be a very satisfying two days for Imperials, both our teams recording impressive wins. The most pleasing part was the performance of the youngsters, with many first year players in both under eighteen and senior ranks.

Despite going in to the finals as outsiders and underdogs, these inexperienced youngboys were not overawed and rose magnificently to the occasion, especially in the final quarter of each game where they really showed their fitness and leg speed.Whatever happens from this point onward, our players have already proved the detractors wrong, especially those who confidently predicted a ‘wooden spoon’ finish for our senior team in 2012. Coaches John Uebergang (U/18s) Tim Delany (reserves) and Jake Myles (seniors) deserve great credit for having brought the best out of each player in their respective teams.

SATURDAY - SUNDAY September 8th & 9th, 2012 ‘THE WESTERN’

B Grade – Portland 49 defeated East 46Best Players - Portland – Jenna Domburg & Rebecca Dewaas

East – Belinda Davis & Sarah Gilcrist

The game started at a fast pace with Portland scoring the first 3 goals before East responded. Defence pressure applied from East defenders in Sarah Gilcrist and Nicole McIntyre ensured East stayed in the game. However Portland held a 2 goal advantage at the end of the 1st qtr.

The 2nd quarter started well for both teams, with many turnovers created from tight defensive pressure for both teams. Jenna Domburg in GS for Portland shot accurately in this quarter shooting 10 of the 14 goals scored in this quarter, while Belinda Davis at GA for East & Cherie Foster at GS also shot accurately but were limited to just 11 goals for the term.

Half time scores – Portland 25 to East 20

The third quarter saw East come out strongly and applied plenty of pressure all over the court. This quarter was very even with both teams scoring 14 goals respectively. Portland continued to work well together and went into the last quarter with a 5 goal lead.

The last quarter produced some fantastic passages of play from both teams. For Portland Jodie Parker, Rebecca Dewaas and Breanna Spencers continually worked the ball well into shooters Meg Hol and Jenna Domburg. While for East, defenders Daniela Waters, Sarah Gilcrist & Nicole McIntyre worked tirelessly and produced some timely turnovers. The gap closed and scores were tied during this term. Portland settled though and through patience moved the ball easily into their goalies, who converted truly and in the dying minutes of the game, came away with a 3 goal win.

Final Scores – Portland 49 def East 46

The Netball Numbers - ELIMINATION FINALS

C Grade – East 45 def North 44Best Players - East – Zena Creek & Michelle Wichman

North – Brooke Winterfield & Tarsh Bosko

It was the comeback of the year for East Gambier, with a nail biting one goal victory over North in the last few minutes.

North started the game off strong and with some missed opportunities early by East, North defenders in Steph McInerny & Danielle Kettle were able to send the ball down the other end of the court to team mate Brooke Winterfield at GS – who shot at 100% - 8 goals for the quarter.

The 2nd quarter North lifted again and Tarsh Bosko provided exceptional drive and speed down the court for North, leaving East defends working hard for a turnover. An injury to East GA Caroline Lock, saw young gun Teagan Gray enter the game.

Half Time scores – North 25 to East 20

The 3rd quarter was an even quarter and accuracy from Christine Mathys (GS) for East kept them in the game. Another injury to East’s Amanda Lyon, saw Sarah Creek return to the court. East fought hard in the final quarter, and with fantastic defence by Roxy Anderson-Gibson, Megan Brodie and & Michelle Wichman, East slowly narrowed the margin. Zena Creek worked tirelessly all game, feeding in to the goalies well. With a long shot from Teagan Gray, East were in front for the first time. East defence stopped North’s drive in the last minute of the game, and with a missed goal, saw East’s Roxy-Anderson scoop up the rebound, to win the game.

Final Scores – East 45 def North 44

SATURDAY - SUNDAY September 8th & 9th, 2012 ‘THE WESTERN’

17/U – Hamilton 54 def Imperials 35Best Players - Hamilton – Georgie Gough & Zoe Gough

Imperials – Molly Neeson & Amanda Keightly

In sunny conditions the first half of this game was a very even tussle with the stand out player Hamilton’s Sophie Thornton, playing at GS, who shot all 21 goals out of 22 attempts for her team, using her height to advantage in the circle.

Georgie Gough (C) and Raqual Sherran (WA) continued to work hard & provide opportunities for the Hamilton goalies, while at the other end it was Laura Ferguson (C) and Bec Van Kalken who worked overtime for Imperials, providing scoring opportunities for Nickayla Lowe (GS) & Rachelle Pevitt-Holmes (GA).

Half Time Score – Hamilton 21 to Imperials 18

The third quarter saw Hamilton bring on Maz Wolfe to WA and Eliza Groves to WD, and they settled early and took advantage of any turnovers, scoring truly. Amanda Keightly of Imperials battled hard to stop the flow of goals from Hamilton’s GS (Sophie Thornton) but to little effect. The passing into the circle from Maz Wolfe and Georgie Gough was superb, constantly finding Thornton under the post. At the end of this quarter Hamilton held a 6 goal lead.

The final quarter saw Imperials make several changes with Nickayla Lowe moving to GK, Bec Van Kalken to C and Laura Ferguson to WA. Although they battled hard, Hamilton stepped up their work rate all over the court and stormed home in the last quarter – scoring 20 goals to 7, to win by a comfortable 19 goals.

A stand out performance from Hamilton’s Sophie Thornton who scored 53 of her team’s 54 goals for the match (and a 19 goal last quarter). Other better players for Hamilton were Georgie Gough and Zoe Gough.

Whilst Imperials had solid performers in Molly Neeson and Amanda Keightly.

The Netball Numbers - ELIMINATION FINALS

15/U - North 41 def South 17Best Players - North – Amber Hood & Danika JolleySouth – Jade Opie & Alex KennyNorth Gambier got off to a flier in the 15 and under elimination final, using the ball with precision, finishing accurately and causing plenty of turnovers with their relentless defence. It made for a tough day at the office for the South Gambier girls and while they hung tough in the first quarter and rallied in the second, they proved no match for the Tigers. Amber Hood dominated the mid court, connecting well with goal attack Danika Jolley, who made sure every shot counted in a superb four quarter shooting display. The Tigers didn’t have it all their own way in the first half, with South goal keeper Alex Kenny getting a number of critical touches and rebounding strongly and wing defender Jade Opie using her incredible reach to continually disrupt the feed from Emma Beames. It was the defensive pressure from the Tigers that proved the difference though as they shut down space and continually turned the ball over in the mid court with Jamie Whan, Hood and Jolley getting a number of important touches.Key Demons defender Yazmin King led the way in the second quarter as she looked to drag her side back into the contest and at half time, the Demons had cut the seven goal quarter time deficit to six and looked an improved combination. North seemed to only be stirred by this challenge and showed no mercy in the third quarter. Ellie Walmsley-Pace was injected into the game at wing attack and started to find space, feeding the ball with precision into her shooters and also getting some important defensive touches. And North’s circle defenders started to get back on top after South’s shooters had found a lot more space in the second quarter. The errors started to mount for South as they continually turned the ball over only to cough it back up almost immediately and by three quarter time the contest was over with the Tigers enjoying a 15 goal lead. South turned to its bench and Caitlin Clarke and Courtney Clayton in the final quarter and it reaped rewards early with a couple of turnovers but North put the foot down with Hood again dominating to blow the margin beyond 20 – the biggest margin between the two sides this season. Hood and Jolley were outstanding for the winners, while Kenny battled hard all day and was clearly her side’s best along with Jade Opie who performed well for four quarters.

13/U – Portland 43 def Millicent 27Best Players - Portland – Tayla Falconer & Jemma Farrell - Millicent – Bonnie Cory & Keah Lynch

In windy conditions Millicent settled more quickly than Portland and shot to a 3 goal lead. Portland found their rhythm in attack with long passes into the circle and scores were level mid way through the term. Turnovers by both teams in defence caused unsettled play. Tayla Falconer the GA for Portland and Sam Telfer (GD) both played strongly to help Portland to a 3 goal lead 9 to 6 at the end of the first quarter.

Both teams were unsettled with errors from both sides at the start of the 2nd quarter. Portland steadied first and accurate shooting from Olivia Cottier (GS) and Tayla Falconer (GA) both of Portland saw the Tigers increase their lead. Both centres Jemma Farrell of Portland & Tiara Hales of Millicent showed speed and drive and contested strongly through the centre. Bonnie Cory (GD) of Millicent took some timely interceptions but Portland continued to play strong attacking netball and they held a 9 goal lead at the half time break.

Half Time Scores – Portland 21 to Millicent 12

The third term saw Keah Lynch (GA) and Sophie Ferguson (GS) team well for Millicent but strong rebounds from Portland’s Giaan Englezos at GK was a highlight of the quarter.

Elka Smith at WD also performed well during this final term through strong defence, helping Portland to run out comfortable Winners.

13/U – North 48 def South 14Best Players - North – Emily Pietsch & Morgan FisherSouth – Olivia Dukalskis & Georgie PeateIn mild conditions with little to no breeze, North met South in the Qualifying Final of the 13/U netball. Both teams began with finals nerves, characterised by several unforced errors and turnovers. It was goal for goal for the first 5 minutes before North settled first. Strong defence from North’s Morgan Fisher and Sienna Allen resulted in several turnovers, and at quarter time North led by 5. The second quarter was all North Gambier. Strong play all down the court, clever passing around the circle and tight defence, all limited South Gambier’s scoring opportunities. At half time North led 27 to 9. Both teams made changes at half time. For North – Laura Day moved to GS, Ebony McAdam to WD and Lauren Ross to WA and for South Felicity Clayton to GS, Caitlynn Haggett to GA and Natasha Russell to WD. The scoring slowed down in the 3rd quarter as both teams took a while to settle. Imogen Walker and Georgia Peate continued to work hard for South, while Keelin Winterfield was always an option for North. At the final break, North’s defenders kept up their strong pressure on South’s goalies Felicity Clayton and Caitlynn Haggett, limiting their opportunities. North ran out strong victors 48 to 14 and progress to meet East Gambier in next week’s 2nd Semi Final.
