In my illustration, I took a minimalistic approach. Hoping to achieve a simple yet visually striking composition. By applying the figure-ground technique inspired by the famous Israel illustrator, Noma Bar, I managed to use both the positive and negative spaces in my work. Silk screen printing was executed after finalising my illustration.

You feeling ill?

I’m spending this weekend in bed

My various illustrations are hand drawn, scanned in and digitally edited. I experimented with dif ferent framing and cropping of my images to achieve the best visual. In order to get the ideal atmosphere right, I paid much attention to the emotions of the content.

The final outcome will be a comic book, consisting of 13 person’s work. It will be a shared effort, which I contributed in designing the back cover, and also both the inside covers. The concept is to keep the back cover simple, so as to not take away focus from the front.

THE LOOT

The LOOT is an online store, which can also be known as a blogshop started by a friend. Which seeks to promote af fordable and trendy male & female apparel of great quality and exquisite design. This friend approached me to create an identity for the store.

Page 21: WERKBOOK

Considering that she has no plans for a retail outlet anytime soon, i then suggest that perhaps the logo could be versatile, designed to be able to function as an application icon as well for smartphones, tablets and other mobile devices.

TEN DOSAGE OF INSPIRATIONS

An assignment for a saddle stitched, odd book sized documentation of 10 Inspirations for a design student, accompanied with images and body text.

33, 34

Designers are heavily attracted by design trends and influence. They are very contented with adopting ready made resources in their design, and even easier to imitate. Creativity is thus somewhat loosing its ground.

DISCOVERING THE WORK BEHIND THE WORK

Orientation 2012 T-Shirt & Tote Bag Design Contest. LASALLE College of The Arts. The Design should only be limited to 2 colours & the school’s logo must be included. I was awarded a 1st Runner-Up for the contest, unfortunately my design was not chosen to be featured on the T-shirts & goodie bags.

Page 37: WERKBOOK

Great art is achieved through hard work and creative ideas shared around us all. This design depicts a large tree, which is never easy to plant. However with elements of rain and sunlight, plus the hard work of a dedicated farmer, it can be achieve. The stained glass effect is inspired by the architecture of Lasalle.
