    Remember, The Worcester Public School cell phone policy is that
    • CELL PHONES ARE NOT ALLOWED IN SCHOOL.So make the right decision and keep them in your locker or they will be taken and handed over to the assistant principals.

  9. 9. If you have ELECTRONICS of any kind...cell phone, mp3, iPods, PSP, CD Players, etc.,IN YOUR POSSESSION DURING THE SCHOOL DAY,
    They will be confiscated
    and a parent or guardian will have to come in to get them.

  12. 12. A typical day at WEMS
    6:50 AMMorning breakfast/Open basketball
    7:10 7:20the day starts with Locker time, saying hello to friends and gathering the proper materials and books needed for the first 3 classes of the day.
    7:20 (tardy bell) -7:24Homeroom Students sit quietly in their seats listening to morning announcements while attendance is being taken.
    At 7:27The school day starts with six periods made up of 5 core subjects and 1 enrichment.

    TARDY = A student who is not in his/her seat at the start of homeroom 7:20 AM
    4 tardiescan equal ONE absent
    9 unexcused absences
    Can result in going to COURT
    14 absences may result
    in loss of credit.

    7th & 8th Graders
    Need to pass: Math & English
    Need to pass: at least 2 other core subjects
    Need to pass: 2 Enrichments
    Absences: 14 or more RETAINED!
    *Cannot fail the same subject twice!
  15. 15. Healthy habits can protect everyone from getting germs or spreading germs at home and school. Simple actions like:
    • Covering your mouth when coughing
    • 16. Keep your hands to yourself
    • 17. Washing your hands often
    • 18. Stop kissing!
    These habits can stop germs like the H1N1 and prevent illnesses and reduce sick days.
    The average human mouth contains more than ten billion bacteria, almost double the number of people in the world.
    WEMS is a TOUCH FREE zone!

    • We would like students to come to school in clothing that is conducive to learning and safety. The followingis inappropriate for school:

    Make sure EVERY student has a pass Every time. Please use the color coded passes - not handwritten notes.
    If you see electronics - please confiscate them and turn them into your VP.
    Send students to lockers during locker times - start good habits now.

  25. 27. Gum - It's not allowed!
    Dismissal to and from lunch has been
    an issue - please be in the stairwell/landings when your students aredismissed.
    Touch Free - NO touching is allowed - daps, kissing, arm wrestling at lunch, Horseplay - not allowed.
    Dress code - please be aware of what your students are wearing! Send them to the office if you have a question.

    • please model respect and compassion in your interactions.
    • 29. If we are consistent/persistent in the first few weeks it will set the tone for the remainder of the year.
