Medical Marijuana Wellness InSTALLments With marijuana being recreaonally legal in 10 states and Washington D.C. (for those over 21 years of age) and medically legal in 33 states, a lot of people have been quesoning how these laws impact us here in the state of Florida and on campus. Florida legalized medical marijuana during the 2016 elecon, which allows those diagnosed with certain debilitang condions at the discreon of a doctor to consume prescribed cannabis. Although marijuana is legal in Florida for those with a medical card, consuming/possessing marijuana on campus is sll considered illegal due to FGCU’s status of being a federally funded state instuon. In order for our campus to receive federal funds we must adhere to both state and federal laws. So, regardless if recreaonal marijuana becomes legal in the future, our campus will remain a drug free zone.
