Pupils are kept safe, feel safe and have few concerns about bullying……and

behaviour of pupils is good. February 2014

    What a great team…

  • Well Being 4 Children @ Joy Lane

    The theory behind the practice!!!

A Love Of Learning , For Life, For All.

Our vision plan is detailed for you and this underpins everything we do in school.

We believe JLPS is a safe, friendly, caring, inclusive and respectful community.

We expect our children to…………..what do you think?

We expect our staff and School Governors……….????

We expect our parents and carers to……….some thoughts please.

The Lucky Child at Joy Lane is surrounded by excellent staff……………how do we know???

    Consistency ↑

  • • MyConcern is Joy Lane’s simple to use, safe and secure software for

recording and managing all safeguarding concerns.• The system enables all staff to record any safeguarding concern, safe in

the knowledge that a proper record has been made and that their safeguarding lead has been automatically notified.

    • Mr Ashley Jones, Ms Hines, Miss Kelly and Mrs Bowles are the DSLP’s

at school and this easy to use system allows us to ASSESS and MANAGE any on-going action that needs to be taken.

Why the well-being of your child is important to us and how are we held to account?

  • KS 1 = 27 Questions which indicate four factors, possible answers - Yes all the time/no not at all Preparedness for learning 96% Feelings about school 91% Learner self-worth 86% Response to learning 72%

Despite ‘Response to learning’ being the lowest figure for the KS1 children in JLPS, this is not statistically significant when standardised and viewed nationally and is deemed to represent a ‘high satisfaction with their school experience’

KS2 = 50 Questions which indicate eight factors, possible answers: Yes, a lot… Yes, a bit… No, not much…No, not at all. Feelings about school 90% Preparedness for learning 89% Attitudes to teachers 89% Perceived learning capability 83% Attitudes to attendance 83% General work ethic 80% Confidence in learning 77% Response to curriculum demands 69% Self regard as a learner 67%

Despite ‘Self regard as a learner’ being the lowest figure for the KS2 children in JLPS, this is not statistically significant when standardised and viewed nationally and is deemed to represent a ‘high satisfaction with their school experience’

How do we assess the well-being of our children? Through PASS analysis (Pupil Attitude To Self And School)

  • The data is just a snapshot of how children were feeling at a particular point in time (the start of a new academic year). It tells us that Joy Lane compares exceptionally well when the data is compared against national levels, indicating a high level of pupil satisfaction with their experiences. This could be attributed to: the success of the overarching vision of the school community and the ethos

which it promotes. the dedication & professionalism of their teachers, TAs and Inclusion Team. the recognition of the need for pupil voices to be heard and acted upon. the careful monitoring of pupil progress by teachers and the SLT and the

constant search for ways of improving children’s academic success and well-being.

the success of any whole school improvements and individual interventions put in place.

the good partnership-working within the community.

Comparisons between the individual children identified by this analysis and the children identified on class Provision Maps have indicated that there were few surprises as children had already been identified by teachers as needing specific interventions (such as additional Phonics, or Clever Hands) – these have been put in place and their impact evaluated. Additional PHSE sessions and drama workshops have also been put in place for specific year groups. Many of the children highlighted are also well known to the FLO’s who work with them and their family’s particular needs. Outside agencies are also involved in remedial action for some children’s specific needs (eg Speech & Language Therapist)A second, follow-up survey (planned for later in the year) will also indicate the success or otherwise of these interventions and will provide a measure of pupil attitude to themselves and the school as they progress through their ‘career’ at JLPS.
