We are here to help ALL our users make best use of our services and facilities.

Various pieces of assistive equipment are available and library documentation can be reproduced in large print upon request.

Please alert library staff to any special needs which you may have. If needs are still not catered for, please speak to the Head of Library Services.

BOOKS:

You can borrow up to 6 items for 4 weeks. Some items have one week

loan status. Items out on loan can be reserved for you. Check the catalogue

on our intranet site for our book list.

We have a number of special collections including: Management,

Physiotherapy and Allied Health

For checking book stock further afield, we have access to a N W Health

Libraries' Joint Catalogue, covering Greater Manchester, Cumbria &

Lancashire and Cheshire & Mersey. Access via:

JOURNALS:

Our holdings cover most clinical topics and management.

Consult the lists at the issue desks or on the intranet. A

number of titles are available electronically.



OUR SERVICES

INTER LIBRARY LOANS:

We provide a loan service for books and supply copies of journal articles

from other North West Health libraries, BMA, British Library and

Manchester University’s John Rylands Library.

(Charges are made for this service)

Accessible via staffnet, these Intranet pages provide access to various guides, e-resources and general library information.





NHS Evidence (www.evidence.nhs.uk)

This is an open access simple search engine that allows users to search only professional medical and healthcare related websites as checked by NICE. The system features a number of quick limits, as well as an accreditation flag.




NHS Evidence – Journals and databases (www.evidence.nhs.uk)

Allows access to full text journals, e-books, major health databases and other resources. Available any time, from any PC with Internet access – at work or home. Ask staff for an NHS Athens username and password.




INTERNET ACCESS

Intranet and Internet facilities are available in the library. Some locally purchased online resources are also available for use – please ask library staff for more information.

TRAINING SESSIONS

Our programme runs throughout the year.

See notice boards or the intranet for details of our courses.

There is no charge for this service.




LITERATURE SEARCHES

Professional staff can conduct searches on your behalf. There is no charge for this although subsequent print outs or downloads may be chargeable. This service is not available to students.




CURRENT AWARENESS

We provide access to a number of electronic current awareness bulletins (topics include local authors, general health news, health management and mental health). Please speak to library staff for more details.



OTHER SERVICES INCLUDE…

• Photocopying, printing and scanning facilities

• Document binding service

IF YOU ARE…

…a Trust employee in ANY department or a student on placement* come to Trust Library Services and complete an application form. Trust ID badge or other proof of eligibility required.

*Please ask library staff about other eligible groups
