The user has a considerable effect on energy consumption:

– air exchange rate (e. g. inappropriate ventilation behaviour)

– heat distribution (radiator valve settings)

• When heating systems involving burners operate, part of the energy is lost via the flue.

• A measurement of the flue gas temperature indicates how effective the system's settings are.
