• Reception: Sounds Write Phonics taught daily

• Sounds are taught in the context of a whole word, not in isolation

• Refer to the sound and not the letter name

• Precise pronunciation

Reading in Reception • Reading scheme books: Read twice a week at school with an adult,

find a small amount of time every day at home.

• Two new books a week: Phonics book and a story book Reading

folder in school every day (Starting next week).

• Reading record: small weekly comment-found the word ‘mat

'tricky. Understanding and Comprehension.

• Library book: Return every Friday.

• Parent and carer reading every Friday

A few gentle reminders • Label everything!

• Spare clothes on pegs, keep stocked up

• Attendance and punctuality

• Read letters and keep up to date with dates on the school App

• Ensure emergency contact forms are kept up to date,

permission for local trips and photos for school website

• We are always here to chat if you have any concerns or

questions
