Curriculum Six Units of Inquiry Reading: Treasures Reading Series, trade books,
readers theater, fluency passages, poems Math: Bridges Math Series Writing: Step Up to Writing, Six Trait Writing, Writing
Workshop, Daily Language Instruction Science and Social Studies: Integrated units derived
from Colorado State Standards, FOSS kits All curriculum materials are driven by the Colorado
State Standards.
Reading Expectations Fluency: Ideally, students will read 102 or more
words per minute on a second grade passage when reading aloud (fluency) by the end of 2nd grade. (Practice passage at home - Mondays) DIBELS Next, above 87 high chances of success
Instructional reading will take place in the classroom during whole class lessons and small group work.
Comprehension and vocabulary will be monitored by weekly reading assessments and unit tests following each unit in the Treasures Reading Series.

Grammar
Phonics and Spelling – whole class work, weekly test, spelling in writing
Math ExpectationsBridges focuses on multiple strategies, sharing ideas,
