Educating through and with technology
Our Vision
In Learning Speak…
A Couple of Tasters
A Couple of Tasters
Assumptions
Our education was different. We have moved to an internet paradigm.Technology enhances learning, when infused effectively. There is no one size fits all.Government funding will never meet the cost of a high quality education.
Why?
Enables ‘student voice’Enriches ‘formative practice’Extends possibilitiesEnhances the partnership Engages students
Enables ‘student voice’Enriches ‘formative practice’
Enhances the partnership
1.
Every child should have a mobile device of their own.
We should actively encourage students bringing these from home….
2.
We should stop thinking every class needs to be equitably resourced.Resources should be focused on what you need to meet the goals for improvement for your class/ students.
3.
Until we have ubiquitous access, there needs to be less on-line games.
And more creating where students are actively involved in planning, building and presenting new knowledge.
4.
We must educate about and through personalised networks.
And foster collaborative projects between students, classes, schools.
5.
With an explosion of web 2.0 tools and a plethora of ipad/ipod apps…
We’ve got to be more systematic and faster when evaluating, trialling new software and indeed new technologies.
6.
There are three main strands:-communicating (in real time e.g. skype); -meeting information needs; and -presenting/creating.
7.
eportfolios and class blogs are critical, powerful tools in ensuring parents get the language of learning. No other process or system easily matches this.
