First, let me wish the members of Insallah a very Happy New Year. This is a time for new
beginnings, new ideas and insights. With our industry in a state of transition (as is the
world), perhaps it makes sense for some goal-setting and identification of those things
which this club would like to accomplish in the upcoming year. These, of course, are up
to you: our members.
There are the obvious – increase our bank account, increase our membership, make a dif-
ference and provide support of those who share our ideals. But what else can we do
within our world to make it better?
Positive press is always good. AHA has several ‘awards’ such as Best Club Newsletters
and individual club, Regional and National member awards that we can aim for. Reach-
ing out locally is always a great way to introduce yourself, our club and our breed. Con-
sider inviting a group, perhaps a Girl Scout troop, over and talk about the joys and respon-
sibility of Arabian-horse ownership. Just petting a horse is a joy many do not have. Cou-
ple that with the beauty and personality of the Arabian and you will have people who will
always think about the happy day they were introduced to our breed and to you. Perhaps you have an extra copy of a book, artwork or magazines? Donate them to be
sold by the club on eBay. Perhaps there are other items that you have that could be sold
there, as well.
Since we’re an Internet club and not bound by geographic locations, we all have the op-
portunity to volunteer to work the shows and the rides in our local areas. One of the prob-
lems our organizations face is the cost of putting on an event. A volunteer at any Arabian
event helps all of us, not just the immediate organizations. Plus, if the group you work
with understands that you belong to Insallah, you may find potential new members for
Insallah, not to mention gratitude to our club.
Certainly we have the talent, knowledge and resources within our club to promote, guide
and enhance the Arabian horse experience. Give it some thought ~ what can we do to
make a difference to our Club, our Community and our breed?
