So rich in history is the abbey that you'll need half a day to do it justice. The abbey is a spectacular example of various styles of Gothic architecture. The original church was build by Edward the Confessor.

Separate museums around the Cloister are the Charter House, the Undercroft (or Abbey) Museum and the Pyx Сhamber, once the Royal Treasury.
