Who’s this? Young children will enjoy learning English with loveable Pingu!
Pingu loves English is a two-level course for 3-6 year olds.
1. Ask children to colour the rectangles at the top: 1 black, 2 green, 3 yellow, 4 blue, 5 red. 2. Using these as a key, they colour inthe picture. 3. Ask: Who’s this? (Pingu.) What’s this? (A sledge.) Point to the sledge and ask: What colour? (Green.)
Hand out photocopies of the My Day worksheet, sheets of card,scissors, brass pins and glue. The children colour the activity chartand the clock, and cut out the hands. They stick the activity chartand clock onto card and attach the hands on the clock, and thethicker hand on the activity chart, using the brass pins. In groupsthey use their ‘charts’ to show each other the times they do thedifferent activities.
Extension activity
Play What time is it Mr Wolf? The ‘wolf ’stands at one side of the class / playground with his back to the rest of the class. Theclass creeps towards him chanting: What time is it Mr Wolf? The‘wolf’ suddenly turns round, saying a time. If he sees someonemove they are ‘out’. If he shouts: Lunchtime! the children runback to the start and the wolf tries to catch them. If a child iscaught, they become the new ‘wolf’.

Fun English is a six-level course for 6-12 year olds with2-3 hours of English a week.
a Pupils look at the word square on the worksheet, find thename of the ten pets and circle them.
b Pupils tick the names of the pets on the list as they find them.
2 Write
Pupils read the questions and write the answers in thespaces provided.
3 Extension
a Ask various pupils ‘ Have you got a pet?’ Pupils answer‘Yes’ or ‘No’.
b When pupils understand the question and can answersatisfactorily, encourage individuals to ask the person sittingnext to them the same question.
c Set up a chain of such questions and responses goingaround the whole class, i.e. P1 asks P2 ‘ Have you got a pet?’P2 answers “Yes’ or ‘No’ and then asks P3 ‘ Have you gota pet?’ etc.
4 Vocabulary games
a Game 1: Spell the name of one of the pets, eg ‘D-O-G’. Pupilssay the name of the pet, ‘dog’. Repeat with other pets.
b Game 2: Stand at the front, clearly visable to the class andsilently ‘say’ the name of one of the pets. Pupils have to guessthe pet, using the movement of your lips as their cue, and saythe name of the pet aloud. Repeat with other pets.

Blue Skies is a seven-level course for 6-12 year olds.
Find and write Teacher’s notesPupils look at the picture and find four things startingwith the letter S, five things starting with C and as manythings as possible starting with B. Give pupils five or tenminutes then check the exercise with the class.
