Golden Rule-Wilson Real Estate & Auction
Auction Rules 1. The Silent Auction will begin promptly at 6 p.m. CT and continue without interruption until all items have been auctioned. 2. All bidders must register with the cashier to obtain a bid number. All bids in the Live Auction will be made by holding up the bid card. Your bid card number will be used on the Silent Auction bid forms. Only one number per couple is required. 3. Payment by the successful bidder should be made at the close of the Live Auction. Payment may be made with cash, check, Visa or MasterCard. 4. All checks should be made payable to Lindsey Wilson College. 5. The highest bid acknowledged by the auctioneer shall be the purchaser. In the event of any disputes between bidders, the auctioneer will have sole discretion either to determine the successful bidder or to re-offer and sell the article in the dispute. Any dispute after the sale shall be conclusive based upon the clerk’s sale records. 6. If the auctioneer determines that any opening bid or advance bid thereafter is sufficiently below the value of the item, he/she may reject the bid and withdraw the item. 7. Items you purchase are for your enjoyment. If a problem arises or the package is not satisfactory, please contact us at 270-384-8070. We want you to a have a pleasant experience. 8. All auction items must be removed from the Roberta D. Cranmer Dining and Conference Center on the evening of the auction. A “PAID” receipt, obtained from the auction cashier, must be presented before items can be removed. For large items, please make sure arrangements for pickup. 9. The auction checkout form should serve as your official receipt for the items purchased at the auction. The value set forth for each item is a good faith estimate of the fair market value as required by the IRS. 10. Should a problem arise with the availability of an item, as described, Lindsey Wilson College will refund your purchase price. Should a problem exist that is uncontrollable by Lindsey Wilson College
and falls outside all warranties, expressed or implied, Lindsey Wilson College will not be held responsible for the return of the purchase price. 11. Unless otherwise specified, all auction items and services must be used within one year. NOTE: In cases where more than one bidder shares in the cost of a Live Auction item, a representative from the bidding group must notify the auction’s cashier immediately of the participating bidders and their respective share of the cost.
Important Tax Information The IRS now requires that charitable organizations, such as Lindsey Wilson College, inform their contributors as to the deductibility of payments and donations made by the patrons for fund-raising activities. The following are guidelines and are provided to assist you in tax preparation. 1. Dinner Tickets -- Each dinner ticket is tax deductible to the extent it exceeds the fair market value of the meal. 2. Items purchased at the Live and Silent Auctions are deductible for the amounts paid in excess of the fair market value of each item. 3. Cash Contributions -- All cash contributions are tax deductible to the fullest extent of the law. 4. Item Contributions -- Contributions of items are tax deductible to the fullest extent of the law. For non-cash property donations, it is advised that you consult your tax professional, since the IRS has specific requirements for filing which may apply to you. (e.g. - An official appraisal may be warranted if the value of an item exceeds $5,000.) 5. The auction checkout form should serve as your official receipt of items purchased at this benefit auction. The value set for each item is a “good faith estimate,” as required by the IRS. You may deduct only what is paid in excess of each gift’s fair market value.
