A note from Miss Battishill:

Wow! I am super excited to be your class teacher again!

I no longer have a baby in my tummy! Rex is over 1 now and likes to be noisy and make a mess!

I think you guys are going to be awesome in Year 3. You were amazing in Year 1 and Mrs Miller says that you were phenomenal in Year 2.

Things may be a little different when we return, but we are all a team and we will rock Year 3!

I’m looking forward to seeing you very soon and hearing all about your summer adventures.

A note from Mr Wilson-Date:

Hi everybody!

I can’t believe it was already 2 years ago that we all started in year 1! I really enjoyed that year and I’m extremely excited to be with you all again. It has also been a lot of fun doing your online learning throughout lockdown so I am very much looking forward to us all being back together in year 3.

If we all work as a team then I’m sure it will be awesome and we will overcome any difficulties!

At Wilcombe we expect all children to wear our school uniform:

Snack:Children will need to bring in a healthy

snack each day for morning break.

Unfortunately, there is no free fruit entitlement in Year 3.

A healthy snack could be; fruit, vegetables, salad crudités, cheese, natural yoghurt, oat

bars.

Please respect that we are a NUT FREE school.

Accelerated Reader:

As your child enters Year 3, they will be using our school reading programme called Accelerated Reader.

Your child will be assessed by completing a Star Reader Test on the iPad at the beginning of the year. This will generate a reading level, in which they can select books from. Once your child finishes that book, they will take a quiz on what they have read and earn points.

You will receive more information about this at the beginning of the year.

Homework:

• Daily Reading of a reading book• Weekly spellings• Daily practice of Times Tables• A selection of tasks linked to our

topic

• Tasks completed and brought into school will be celebrated by being on display in the corridor.

Rewards:

As you know, we love to reward and praise excellent learning attitudes and positive behaviour.

• In Year 1, we had the top banana. One of our first tasks in Year 3 will be a consultation of a daily class reward.

Start thinking about ideas.

As a school we will:

• Let parents know about any concerns or problems that affect their child's work or behaviour

HOME SCHOOL AGREEMENT

HOME SCHOOL AGREEMENT • As a parent you will:

• See that your child goes to school regularly and is on time

• Support the school's policies and guidelines for behaviour

• Support your child in homework and home learning

• Attend parent's meeting and discussions about your child's progress

• Let the school know of any problems or concerns that might affect your child's work or behaviour

• See that your child wears school uniform and comes properly equipped for P.E lessons.

Over the summer, I would love for you to get excited by reading!

We would like to make a reading display with as many photos of you guys reading.

Can you have your photo taken reading something that interests you? This could be a book, a poem, a recipe, an article on the internet, anything as long as you are enjoying it!

Can you have your photo taken reading in an unusual/your favourite space?

Please upload your photos on to your Google Classroom page so that we can print them in September.
