Virtual and Hybrid OptionsKenilworth will offer only hybrid or virtual models for the
2020-2021 school year.
● Parents will choose fully virtual or hybrid with a commitment survey closer to in person start date
● HYBRID: Instruction via a combination of face-to-face and virtual models ○ To start after Labor Day
● VIRTUAL: Instruction via a 100% virtual model with either synchronous and/or asynchronous learning
Information About Starting Virtually August 10th
● August 5 - August 8 Virtual Onboarding● Reserve your onboarding class● Week of August 10 : Virtual Learning will start for all students● Students will start attending online classes and working on assignments

Safety for Hybrid Students
Monitoring Your Student’s HealthAt Home:
● Fever 100.4 or higher-keep at home and alert the school● Sore throat, cough, shortness of breath, diarrhea, headache-keep at home
and alert the school (student may have no symptoms)● Parents are encouraged to get student tested for Covid and student may
not return until cleared by a doctor (doctor’s note)
At School:
● Temps taken daily (on arrival and dismissal and more often if needed● If any signs/symptoms present, student will be taken to the isolation room
and parent will be called to pick up student and are encouraged to get student tested for Covid

Hygiene Protocols
Medication protocols:
● If your child will need to keep/take medications during school, please contact the school nurse at 766-8112 (9a-3p) or come to the school (9a-3p)
Preventative measures for Covid:● Social distancing of six feet apart at all times (on buses,in school)● Students will not switch classroom● Wearing masks (cloth recommended by Centers for Disease Control)
○ School will provide at least one fabric mask and will have disposable masks if a mask is forgotten by a student
● Washing hands or using hand sanitizer - if washing hands not possible● Sanitizing stations in each classroom and in hallways● Frequent cleaning/sanitizing by janitorial staff● No use of water fountains (may bring water bottle: 12-13 ounces)● Signs regarding Covid (s/s, distance measures, handwashing, etc)

● Students will attend 2 live sessions for ancillary and lab per week (Total 6)● We will take attendance for all live sessions● If the student has an excuse to be absent, inform the front office
Virtual Classes Expectations:
● Arrive to class on time and stay for the entire class● Cameras should be on during live classes. Microphone should be
muted.● Students should be dressed appropriately
○ Be aware of background noise● Parents and students should be mindful of conversations, music,
and TV that are occuring during student’s live sessions● All live sessions will be recorded● Further expectations and teacher expectations will be shared during
the first days

Lessons and Classes
Students will have all core classes
● ELA, Math, Science and Social Studies● We will continue to follow Tier 1 curriculum● Tutoring will be offered for all core classes● Schoology - Learning Management System
Students will have ancillary classes
● PE (For Hybrid), Art, Foreign Language, Coding, Business Applications
Students will have lab classes, and weekly reading program

Grading Policy● Students will be graded for mastery as well as
completion● Students and Parents will be able to check grades
through PowerSchool and Schoology○ Parents should check grades at least once a
week○ Schedule meetings with teachers when needed○ Make sure students follow deadlines for graded
assignments - reach out to your teacher immediately if there are technology problems
● We follow a 7 point grading scale
Distance Learning Tips1. Make a schedule2. Select a workspace
- Find a quiet place where you can focus on work
3. Break up assignments- Not all assignments can or should be done
in one sitting- Do some work every school day
4. Maintain open communication with teachers5. Give yourself incentives and rewards for
completing work and getting good grades6. Take time away from your computer and
phone over the weekend
Support Systems for Students and Parents
At home and at school students will receive supports for their academics and behavior:
○ Special Education Services and accommodations○ 504 plan accommodations○ English Language Services and accommodations○ Counseling Services○ SEL
Parents can see student work and grades using Schoology and PowerSchool
Teachers will have office hours to support parents and students
