Johnson Livestock Fifth Annual Welcome to Bull & Female Sale THE JOHNSON FAMILY ANDREW, LAURIE, BRIELLE, MAYA & DESTA elcome to the Fifth Annual Johnson WLivestock Bull and Female Sale. We really enjoy raising cattle and raising Angus has been even better. We started using Angus bulls 20 years ago and have never looked back. Those first bulls were just mid range Angus bulls but the impact they made on our herd was immediate. We were able to run more cows with less work and wean a higher percentage calves than ever before. Pretty soon we were purchasing the higher quality Angus bulls and again we saw improvements in calf weights and the replacement heifer quality. In 2003 we began purchasing purebred Angus cows and shaping a cowherd the way we like them. The impact a bull can have on a herd is huge, especially if he can sire those herd improving daughters. For us consistency is very important. When you look through our bulls we want you to see the style and type of animal we are breeding for. We want you to be able to buy a bull or group of bulls and be confident that they will sire a consistent set of quality cattle. For this reason we have large groups of ½ and ¾ brothers, that are ideal to work in single or multi sire breeding herds. Again we have a select set of open females on offer. This gives our bull customers a chance to see what the females of our sires will look like. A number of our females have went on to successful show careers and with this in mind a few of them will be halter broke. A few of these sale females do go to our commercial customers every year and just like the bulls, a herd can be built around a top end female. We want to sell volumes of bulls at a reasonable price for years to come. The only way to achieve this is to have satisfied customers. We understand how important a new herd sire can be to your bottom line so give us a call and we can help identify bulls that will work for you. The bulls remain our responsibility until he leaves our possession, and if something does happen we will take care of it. Box 17 Peebles, SK S0G 3V0 (306) 224-4613 • (306) 224-4341

Johnson Livestock continues to be one of the premium sources for Angus Genetics and OBI is very pleased to be working with Dave & Andrew & Families. Always looking to improve their herd, Johnson Livestock this year added to their program herd bulls such as SAV Pioneer 7301, SAV Bismarck 5682 & Royal Predestined DRCC 8033U to go along with their previous herd sires at home, SAV Carbon Copy 7664, SAV Young Jock 6457, SAV Four Seasons 5231 & B Hills FRL Duration 606. These exciting sires are primary all calving ease giants with great performance data.
The bulls on offer this year will not only add meat and muscle, hair and soundness but will leave you a great set of replacement females. Johnson Livestock use EPD's, CAP and Ultrasound data to identify the genetic contribution that their bulls and females can make in their customer's programs. The bulls and heifers are each developed with the future in mind. You can trust and buy with confidence the JL program as their warranty is second to none. The commitment from the Johnson family ensures that they will do everything for their customers.
It has always and will always be a pleasure working with Johnson Livestock as they are frontrunners in the Angus Industry. The females on offer again this year represent each sire group and have some special females on offer, right from the top of the pen.
OBI once again is very proud to be promoting this herd and working with this progressive family. If we can be of any assistance to you please feel free to contact myself, any one of the sales staff or Johnson Livestock and we will answer your questions. I am very familiar with the JL program. See you March 17 at Peebles, SK.

The lead off 004 son on the SAV 2008 sale, Carbon Copy scanned an amazing 18.8 REA . He has continued to out perform all expectations here at JL. He has the ability to stamp out consistent progeny that have exceptional earlier growth and maturity. Last years off spring seemed to be able to shut that growth off at about 15 months of age and it looks like his daughters will make very moderate cows. With 37 sons on the sale you will notice they all have the same length, depth, and heavy muscling. He is out of the herd bull producing May family at SAV and is a full blood brother to Net Worth.S A V FOUR SEASONS 5231

Our senior herd sire here at JL and at 6 years of age Four Seasons is continuing to do it all for us. He is a massive volume, moderate framed, gentle tank, that is problem free. He sired the high selling bull for us in 2009 and his sons and daughters will be sale favourites again this year. His daughters are long, moderate framed, easy fleshing females, with small square udders that really milk. Our goal is to breed him into every female we have here at JL and we are well on our way. His progeny on this sale speak volumes about what we think of the bull.
Pioneer will be the lead off sire group at the 2011 SAV sale. He is Kelly’s pick to replace his legendary sire Final Answer. Modest BW, Pioneers have great length, performance and balance with a quiet temperament. He is backed by a powerful dam and granddam and there is no better way to build a cow herd than using the son of a great cow family.

We have used Final Answer as a Calving Ease sire without giving up growth and thickness. He sired our high selling bull in both 2008 and 2010 and has continued to impress us with all the things this sire does right. We have also used three different sons that are represented throughout the offering including Pioneer, JL Final Answer 30T and Pendleton.
Bismarck is a proven calving ease bull. He sires short gestation, progeny with exceptional muscle, volume and style. He dam is the 0451 cow who is also the mother of Mandan and our own 5658. He sired the top selling sire group at the SAV 2009 sale where 4 sons have been selected by AI studs.
We purchased Predestined or, as we call him Ben, in partnership with J & S Angus. He is a total outcross sire for us and fits the same mold our other sires do. His sons are fancy, long powerful sons that will add pay weight to your calf crop. We thought enough of him to purchase his dam later that year and she impresses all who see her.

A calving ease Bismarck out of a first calf Net Worth daughter. After seeing how well this combination worked at SAV we have used it very successfully here. There are a large number of 3/4 sibs in the sale.
We normally don`t use Four Seasons on heifers but are we ever glad we did in this case. Four Kings is one of our heavy weights with only a 75lbs BW. If you need a bull to add lenght, depth, and thickness with a real quiet attitude this bull will work for you. His productive dam is a flush mate to the high selling King son whose progeny are showcased in this years SAV sale.

This bull attracted all the attention this summer beside his perfect dam. He is as masculine and heavy muscled as they come in a real moderate frame. This is a breed shaping kind of bull.SELLING ½ POSSESSION & ½ SEMEN INTEREST.
His dam is a pleasure to look at and this herdbull is as well. These Carbon Copy sons are all cut from the same pattern and should sire their calves the same way.

When we started raising bulls we wanted to raise this type of bull in bulk. Our kind of pedigree and our type of bull. A full sister just calved and we could use a lot more of her kind.
A calving ease bull out of a hard working heifer. We have multiple 3/4 brothers in the sale and there are many 3/4 brothers selling at SAV this year as well.
