What About Lunch?
Our lunch time is 10:59 11:29. We sit at table 6. Families can pay by check, cash, or online. Lunch money sent in should
be marked and put in your child’s folder. A red apple stamp on your child’s hand signifies that more lunch money is
needed for your child’s account. If you are joining us for lunch, please meet us in the cafeteria rather than
the classroom. Also say good-bye in the lunchroom, so that we can get to recess.
Ice cream cannot be charged. If there isn’t enough money in the account on Friday, your child will not receive ice cream.
How Has Kindergarten Changed Since We Attended?
Kindergarten is very academic. We follow the state standards for our
instruction. These have increased rigor. Teaching is taught in small, differentiated
groups during the majority of our day. Instruction is assessment driven. Kindergarteners are amazing and can learn so
much!
What Has Mrs. Coates Learned?
Teaching kindergarten is the hardest grade to teach because the children are being introduced to so many new things, it’s physically exhausting, and I’m “on” all day.
The children are super sweet and love the simplest things about school.
We get tired and hungry by 2:15 which can cause tears. A lot of extra help is needed…. Especially in places like the
cafeteria. Chaos occurs when adults stop in, the phone rings, or the
teacher’s attention is turned to something else for a split second. Teaching kindergarten is the most fun grade to teach.
In Closing…..
We look forward to a great year. We work very hard to keep you informed and to teach your child the way we would want someone to teach our children. Let us know whenever you have questions or concerns. Thank you for allowing us to work with your child! What a journey this will be!
