WHERE AM I GOING?

DYBBØLSBRO STATION CENTRAL STATION

Page 4: Welcome to Copenhagen

From the Airport!Best way of getting to the apartment from the airport is to board a grey regional train ‘Øresundstog’, which runs every 10 minutes from the platform located beneath Terminal 3.

The train ride to the Central Station is just short of 15 minutes."

Tickets are purchased in the ticket machines above the platforms. The machines only accepts coins or cards. You would want to get a ticket valid for 3 zones.

Get off at the Central Station.

If you can’t be bothered taking the train, a taxi is about DKK 300 (EUR 40).

HOW DO I GET THERE?

From the Central Station Take any S-train from platform 11 or 12 one stop to Dybbølsbro St, turn right when getting up the staircase, cross the intersection and the small square and you will be on Dybbølsgade. From here it is a 7-8 minute walk to the apartment.

If coming from the airport, the train ticket you purchased is still valid.

If you are travelling light you can also walk, which is about 15 minutes. After taking the escalators up to the transit hall, turn left and walk to the very end, take the staircase a few steps down and you are outside. Aim for the street ‘Istedgade’ which has a 7-eleven on the corner and walk to the second traffic light - about 900 m, turning left on Oehlenschlaegergade and then turn right on next corner.

A taxi from the Central Station is about DKK 75 (EUR 10).

BikingIs by far the most common mean of transportation, and more than half of Copenhageners do the majority of their daily commute pedalling.

You can either use the Bycyklen (city bike) or rent a bike at various bike shop. There’s a shop across the apartment called Recycles where you can rent renovated retro bikes if you want to ride in style

With a few things in mind, biking in Copenhagen is fairly easy. Three general rules will get you a long way:

Keep to the right: Lots of native resident do ride their bike quite fast and expect that slower cyclists keep to the right to make overtaking faster.

Look over your shoulder: Before changing your direction, ensure to look over your shoulder and check you’re not being overtaken. A classic biking accident in Copenhagen involves a cyclist who suddenly changes direction and collides with a bike coming from behind.

Show your intentions: Raise your arm in the air when you have to stop, stick you arm out if you have to make a turn.

If possible try to avoid rush hour traffic in the morning between 07:30 and 09:00 and afternoon between 15:30 and 17:00. It can be quite hectic if you are not used to ride a bike.

HOW DO I GET AROUND?

Page 7: Welcome to Copenhagen

Taking the Bus, S-train or Metro

Buses 3A, 10 and 14 stops minutes away from the apartment. S-train Station Dybbølsbro is less than 10 minutes walk away, and the metro line City ring runs literally just beneath the court yard. This will however not open until 2019, so until then the closest metro station is Nørreport which is a god 20 minute walk away. The S-train does however stop at Nørreport as well and the bus 3A will bring you to Forum Metro St.The easiest way to plan your journey around Copenhagen, is by using the site Rejseplanen.dk. See also S-train map on next pages.

Rejsekort (Travel card)The Rejsekort is an electronic ticket which can be used for travels in Copenhagen as well as other parts of Denmark.

I keep a Rejsekort for my guests which can be used, however it is up to each guest to ensure that there is enough credit on the card. Any leftover credit will be passed on to the next guest. A single trip in Copenhagen is DKK 12 (EUR 1.50) for 2 zones depending on time of day.

If you want to use this option, please let me know and I will provide further details.

When arriving to the apartment your room is the first on the left when entering the apartment.

Across from your room you will find the small bathroom. Shampoo, soap and towels are of course included during your stay.

In the living room there’s a smaller sofa, comfy chair, dining table as well as tv with cable and Netflix via the Apple TV in case you just feel like leaning back.

Finally you will find the kitchen where you can prepare meals and which is also where you will find breakfast. On the bottom shelf in the fridge you will find the things I offer for breakfast, usually there will be butter, jams, eggs, juice and milk and possibly a few other things.

Next to the toaster you will find glass jars with various cereals as well as a bread basket. These things are also included in your breakfast.
