-Grew up in Allen, Texas
-Graduate of The University of Texas @ Austin
-17th year teaching, 14th here at Cedar Creek!
-Teaching 5th Grade and 5th/6th Grade Math
-Favorite thing about teaching is…getting kids to think outside the box and watching those “light bulbs” come on-it is such a rewarding experience and celebrating the unique differences in each child.
-Other interests include: Spending time with my boys, shopping, running, dancing, listening/singing/playing music, being a soccer & karate mom, Longhorn sports (Hook’em Horns!),

- Favorite thing about teaching is… getting to know the kids and sharing moments together
-Other interests… being outside in general, swimming, walking, bike riding, going to the movies and eating out

-Undergrad at University of Minnesota, Grad school at Hamline University

-Favorite thing about teaching is getting kids to think critically about their learning and have fun at the same time!
-Other interests include: most sports (Go Gophers!), running, listening to music, watching movies, playing golf, doing crossword puzzles and reading the newspaper and good books.

-Graduate of the University of Texas at Austin

-Favorite things about teaching are seeing the “spark” in my students’ eyes when they learn something new, watching those “AH- HA!” moments occur, and participating in students discovering their own talents and gifts
-Other interests include: Being a mother to my three children, spending time with family and friends, fitness and nutrition, watching “The Horns” play, traveling to new places and experiencing new things

Assignment Notebook
➢ Every box should be filled out daily, even if it says “No HW”
➢ Check assignment notebook nightly
➢ Helps build organization and responsibility
➢ Cross check assignment notebooks with team website
Homework
● Should be on time and complete
● 5th grade should spend no more than 50 minutes
● One make up day for each day missed○ Students should check in with each block teacher
when absent
● OK to help at home
● Ask to see complete homework
● Expect homework throughout the week
Retest Policy
● Students may retest any quiz or test below 80%.● Students would need to do quiz/test corrections before
being allowed to retest. ● Students will have the opportunity to receive
instruction/help on the concepts that they did not do well on.
● The maximum score a student can receive with the retake is 80% (replacing the original).
● A retake can only improve a grade.● Students may take a retest one time per assessment.
What YOU can do at home...

❖ Look on family access for current grades
❖ E-mails that come to us during the day regarding after school transportation plans may not always be received in time
❖ Please do not deliver forgotten HW or assignments during the school day
❖ Feel free to contact us with questions, comments or concerns

Tech Stuff
*Please be sure that your child has earbuds at school daily. (They came in the supply pack this year!)
*Ipads will be used with clear expectations for educational purposes in each of our classes.
*SMART Tags-please have your child keep theirs inside their backpacks. They will be used for lunch and bus.
Lunch and Snack Information
● Students may bring anything to eat for lunch, including nut products. Please refrain from bringing nuts for snacks.
● Parents are welcome to join students for lunch. Due to space, please eat with your child at the table in the back of the cafeteria.
Live Oak
-3 day trip: November 8, 9, and 10
-focus on outdoor education and team building
-fee of $145, plus a t-shirt fee
-online payments can be made-more info to come
-scholarships available
-Parent Meeting for Live Oak: Tuesday, September 26th @ 6pm-CCE Commons
