“A programme of short courses will be presented by academic staff, introducing topics of broad cultural relevance to the group. The courses will be at an advanced level yet intended to introduce principles and methods in topics across Foundational Computer Science and Software Engineering, thus forming a broad postgraduate education for the first years”

SIGs

• Specialist theme-focussed groups that meet regularly, organised by lab members. Each SIG has a particular focus, thus is aimed at a subset of the group, while remaining open to all lab members

• SIGs are owned by students and research staff

• Four SIGs in operation 06/07:• Foundations SIG• Software Engineering SIG • B SIG – running since 05/06• Logic and Knowledge SIG – joint with IAM
