CourseStructureTheonlineprerequisitecoursesareinstructor-led,10-weekcoursesthatusetheBlackboardLearningManagementSystem(LMS).Thecoursesarestructuredsothateachweekofthecourseisamoduleofcontenttypicallyconsistingofrequiredreading,ashortmulti-mediapresentation,adiscussionboardactivity,andaquizonthatparticularweek’scontent.Additionally,labcoursesincorporateavirtuallabactivityandwillhaveadditionalassignmentstoassessstudentmasteryandapplicationoftheinformation.

IntroductiontotheBlackboardclassroomInthiscoursewewilluseBlackboardastheprimaryvehicleforcoursecontentdelivery.Allofyourcoursematerials,readings,assessments,andsyllabuswillbefoundonBlackboard.Whilesomefuturecontentmaybeavailablewhenyoulogintothecourseatthebeginningoftheterm,mostcoursemoduleswillbeopenedasthecourseprogresses,sothatstudentsmaintainasimilarpacewhencompletingassignmentsthroughoutthecourse.

TechnicalRequirementsBlackboardisafairlyuserfriendlytool,butstillrequiressometimeandefforttomaster.Blackboardwillworkwithanycomputingplatform(Windows,MacOS,Linux,etc)aswellastabletssuchastheiPad.Itisrecommendedthatstudentsusealaptopordesktopforthebestoverallexperience.Atabletmaysufficeforviewingsomecoursecontent,butshouldideallynotbeusedtocompleteanyassessments.
