ACADEMIC ELIGIBILITY

SUSPENDED STUDENTS
▶ Students serving out-of-school suspensions may not participate in any athletic events
▶ This applies to games and practices▶ Suspended students are not to be on school
premises for the duration of the suspensions, this includes athletic facilities.
OTHER SPORT PARTICIPATION
▶ Members of school teams may not participate in a non-interscholastic event, as an individual or as part of a team, in the same sport during the duration of the season.
▶ Examples include: club or course championships, scrambles, tournaments, leagues, charity events, and other competitive events.
DUAL SPORT PARTICIPATION
▶ Students may participate in two co-curricular athletic activities during the same season.
▶ Interested students must submit a request form to the Athletic Director before the start of each season and follow guidelines set for dual-sport athletes.
WITHDRAWING FROM TEAMS
▶ Any student who is removed from a team or withdraws themselves will be ineligible to participate in any sport until the season has concluded (including postseason)
▶ The student will also lose any privilege for season awards or varsity letters
TRANSFER STUDENTS
▶ Eligibility will be determined by the most recent records from the sending school.
▶ The student is responsible for facilitating the transfer of records from previous school to current school.
CHAIN OF COMMAND
▶ All issues with a student-athlete should be addressed using the following order:▶ Coach▶ AD▶ Principal▶ Superintendent
▶ Communication▶ Sportsmanship▶ Support your fellow Students▶ Be a leader, in the classroom and community▶ Represent your School, Team, Community, and
Family▶ Hazing/Sexual Harassment – Report to
Superintendent▶ Athletic Training Issues – See Athletic Trainer,

TRANSPORTATION
▶ Students must ride Board of Education provided transportation to and from events.
▶ Students may be excused:▶ By the head coach▶ With written approval from parent or guardian▶ At least one full day notice prior to contest
▶ All three criteria must be met for excuses
CODE OF CONDUCT
▶ Violations involving Alcohol, Tobacco, and non-prescription drugs (OHSAA In-Season)
▶ 1st Offense▶ Lose 20% of regular season games▶ Completion of approved treatment program may reduce
discipline to 10% of games

GENERAL ATHLETIC RULES AND REGULATIONS▶ Any student involved in the St. Marys City Schools athletic program is
expected to abide by all of the following rules and regulations:Student Athletes:▶ Students will be further informed that participation in interscholastic
sports is a privilege and not a right, and that they may be prohibited from all or part of their participation in such activities by authorized school personnel without further notice.
▶ Shall not at any time take part in crimes or other acts against individuals or property
▶ Shall not participate in acts that bring embarrassment to the team, school or community.
▶ Shall not be disrespectful toward teammates, coaches, administrators, referees, or opponents.
▶ Shall not engage in hazing.
