Preparedness for Class

Students will:

• Bring in all necessary materials to class

• Maintain neat and organized binders and notebooks

• Maintain a neat and organized locker

• Bring all notices home on the day they are passed out

• Return necessary notices to school in a timely fashion

Quality of Written Work

Students will:

• Keep all worksheets and books clean and unwrinkled

• Cover all books

• Write neatly on all assignments

• Include full name, date, and number on all papers

• Answer all questions in complete sentences

• Include correct capitalization and punctuation within sentences

• Write complete answers using specific details, properly spelled, from the book or worksheet

Classroom Rules

Students will:

• Follow the Positive Behavior Support Program

• Follow classroom rules and procedures

• Treat peers and staff with respect and kindness

• Not chew gum in school

• Willingly clean up their work areas

• Follow proper procedures for each area of the building (halls, cafe, special areas)

Homework

Students will:

• Write down homework daily in their planner

• Be responsible for making sure they have all necessary homework items

• Bring all homework to class the day that it is due

• Complete all math homework in pencil

• Complete all other assignments in blue or black pen

Common Core Standards

• Compute fluently with multi-digit numbers and find common factors and multiples.

• 6.NS.2. Fluently divide multi-digit numbers using the standard algorithm.

• 6.NS.3. Fluently add, subtract, multiply, and divide multi-digit decimals using the standard algorithm for each operation.

• 6.NS.4. Find the greatest common factor of two whole numbers less than or equal to 100 and the least common multiple of two whole numbers less than or equal to 12. Use the distributive property to express a sum of two whole numbers 1–100 with a common factor as a multiple of a sum of two whole numbers with no common factor. For example, express 36 + 8 as 4 (9 + 2). Apply and extend previous understandings of numbers to the system of rational numbers.

Respect, Responsibility & Safety

• Positive Behavior Support (PBS) is designed to assist us

in our efforts to teach, encourage and recognize

Respectful, Responsible and Safe behavior and

attitudes here at Perry Hill School.

Behavior Plan

Class Rules:

• Follow directions the first time they are given.

• Listen when others are talking.

• Respect our classroom, our school, and the people around us.

• Keep your hands, feet, and objects to yourself.

• Have Fun Responsibly!

Consequences

• 1st Warning: If a student chooses to not follow classroom rules/procedures they will be given a

verbal warning the first time.

• 2nd Warning: If the student continues not following rules, their name goes on the PBS (Positive

Behavior Support) Log to record the behavior and will fill out a “Think Sheet” or log ticket which

must be signed by parent/guardian.

• If the student refuses to abide by the classroom and/or school rules, they will be sent to visit with

the principal and further parent/guardian contact will be made.

Positive Rewards

• Positive Rewards- Individual tickets and class tickets can be earned for prizes

To earn a gold card, students must consistently exhibit the following criteria:

•Demonstrate good/consistent effort in all subject areas

•Demonstrate a good attitude and show a willingness to try, even when unsure about a skill or concept

•Exhibit positive behavior throughout the day

•Consistently show respect to adults and peers

•Demonstrate a willingness to help peers and work cooperatively with others

•Choose to do the right thing in all situations

•Consistently completes class and homework assignments on time

•Gathers all necessary materials from lockers during designated time

•Be a role model for others

LOSS OF PRIVILEGE:

•A card can be revoked if a student is on the log for a level 2 or level 3 incident

•For any other incidents, it would be a “three strikes you’re out” policy

•No privileges on that day, if a student leaves their gold card at home

PRIVIELEGES:

•Gold Card members will be picked on the first school day of the month, starting in October.

•You will receive a coupon booklet with certain privileges to use throughout this month. When the month expires, so do your coupons!

*****Remember, your coupon booklet and gold card are color-coded, so when this month ends, your color-coded card and coupon book will expire.********

Our program will end in May.
