Word Work

Experimenting with words for learning and practicing spelling

Ensures that students will read, spell, and use high- frequency and commonly misspelled words correctly

Guided Literacy

Focused mini lessons target overall class needs

Guided writing and guided reading teaches students, based on their specific needs, in small groups, or individually

• Media Literacy focuses on helping students develop the skills required to understand, create, and critically interpret media texts

• It examines how images, sound, and words are used to create meaning- “Current Events.”

Daily Physical Activity (DPA)

• Twenty minutes per day, except on Phys.Ed days

• During a DPA period, students will be involved in twenty consecutive minutes of exercise

• Students should wear appropriate footwear

When: 3 days in late May/Early June

What: Testing the Primary Years (Grades 1/2/3)

Grade Three Expectations

Please sign your child’s agenda every night, we check it daily and find it an excellent communication tool.

Students are to always respect themselves and others and to try their best at all times and in every aspect of school.

No nut products are allowed within the school.

Try to promote healthy eating by providing your child with healthy snacks.

Continued Expectations

• Grade 3 Home Reading Program Bookworms- All students should be reading for approximately 15-20 minutes every night.

• Homework is usually incomplete daily work which should take at most 30 minutes each night. When no homework is assigned, please review new concepts

• General homework routines
