WELCOME FÁILTE BIENVENUE W.B. YEATS The majestic W.B. Yeats follows the Irish Ferries tradition of honouring great Irish literary figures. Having joined our fleet in 2019, it offers an enviable cruise-style travel experience. W.B. Yeats was born in Dublin in 1865, and studied poetry from an early age. At 24, he met Maud Gonne, an English heiress and Irish nationalist, and so began a famous affair of obsessive infatuation and unrequited love. During his career he founded the famous Abbey Theatre with Lady Gregory and was awarded the Nobel Prize in Literature. He died in 1939. Yeats’ life and career is celebrated throughout this ship, with his work featured on the décor and downloadable extracts from his catalogue providing the backdrop to a unique walking tour. Guests are also invited to enjoy the ‘Lady Gregory Restaurant’ and the ‘Maud Gonne Bar & Lounge’, as well as ‘The Abbey’ and ‘The Peacock’ cinemas.
