Throughout this prayer season we will be looking at the manifesto of Jesus in Luke 4:18-19, where He says “The Spirit of the Lord is on me, because he has anointed me to proclaim good news to the poor. He has sent me to proclaim freedom for the prisoners and recovery of sight for the blind, to set the oppressed free, to proclaim the year of the Lord’s favour.”

For those of you who have been tracking with our 2020 Vision series, you’ll know that the phrase the “year of the Lord’s favour”, is a reference to Jubilee. The Amplified Bible puts it like this: a time “when the salvation and free favours of God profusely abound.” Our goal this year is to partner with the Spirit and commit to five key emphases (see opposite page) based on Luke 4:18-19 and Isaiah 61 which was the text that Jesus was quoting from.

Over the next 10 days you can download a daily video devotional, recorded by one of the team, who will unpack those themes in more detail. You may also want to download the 2020 Vision preaches, to help remind you what we sense the Lord has for us, as a church, in the coming year.

We have 24/7 prayer happening during the next 10 days, as well as opportunities to gather together to intercede and worship. As we fast and pray together, let’s believe that we will see unprecedented numbers of people finding salvation and favour, like never before.

WELCOME

• Open your hands and pray with all your heart, asking God to enlarge your prayer and worship life. Believe that, as you pray, you’d be freshly encouraged and empowered by the Holy Spirit.

• Pray for a new boldness, that as you open your mouth and declare the goodness of God, there would be an ‘open heaven’ and people would be receptive and open to hear the gospel.

• Ask God to bless your neighbourhood, your place of work or education. Pray for unusual doors of favour to be opened to enable you to share your faith or to be able to serve your community in practical ways.
