We encourage our parishioners to patronize our sponsors. It is
through their generosity that our weekly bulletin comes to you at
no cost to the church. Our sponsor this week is:
BRETT’S AUTO BODY Thank you to all the businesses who sponsor
our bulletin.
Please keep in prayer
those who are on our
prayer chain
and all members of our
St. Joseph family.
The 2021 Breaking Bread Missals are now available. One missal
per family may be picked up in the parish office during regular
office hours.
If you would like to learn more about the Catholic faith, please

The Eucharist: Source & Summit of Christian Life
For more information, please call the parish office or email
Becky at [email protected].
The Evangelization and Outreach Commission would like to thank
everyone who has given items, made donations, and supported them in
prayer! Through this generosity of heart, they were able to give
food baskets to 7 families at Thanksgiving
and 8 families at Christmas. They also made gift bags for all 60
residents at River Oaks this year, and our parishioners at other
area nursing homes. We received a Christmas Card from River Oaks
signed by the staff saying, “Thank you for all the love and support
you have shown our residents and staff during this Christmas
Season!” Please know that your generosity is recognized and
appreciated. May God bless you all! Then the righteous will answer
him and say, ‘Lord, when did we see you hungry and feed you, or
thirsty and give you drink? When did we see you a stranger and
welcome you, or naked and clothe you? When did we see you ill or in
prison, and visit you?’ And the king will say to them in reply,
‘Amen, I say to you, whatever you did for one of these least
brothers of mine, you did for me.’
~Matthew 37-40
Thank You
St. Joseph parishioners have once again shown such generosity to
the organizations we sponsored on this year's Angel Tree. We were
able to help 13 families from our church and school, 30 nursing
home and homebound parishioners, 20 residents at GCARC, and
provided the Health Department with much needed supplies to assist
the low income and single mothers in our community. It is always
with such pride, that we deliver these gifts to each organization,
and to pass on the thank you we receive for your donations. Thank
you for making this another successful Angel Tree, and a wonderful
holiday for our family. Kathy Evans and Lynde Anquillare

St. Joseph and St. Bernard catholic Parishes
Dear St. Joseph School Parents and Patrons, I wanted to share
with you that I will be retiring as principal of St. Joseph School
at the end of the current school year. I have thoroughly enjoyed my
44 years in education, but none more than the 13 years that I have
served the parish, parents, faculty, staff, and students as
principal of St. Joseph. Coming to school every day has never been
a “job” for me; it has truly been my vocation.
St. Joseph is a wonderful school. The staff and students are
truly like family. Especially during this crazy COVID year, we have
had to pull together and depend on each other even more. Therefore,
this has not been an easy decision, but one I feel its time has
come.
In September, I turned 65 and have been in education since my
first year teaching in 1977. My career has offered me many
challenges and rewards. I served for 27 years as a teacher,
athletic director, coach, and administrator in public schools. I
then joined the Diocese of Evansville in 2004 and served 4 years as
principal at Westside Catholic before coming to St. Joseph. While
working in Catholic schools, I have worked for four priests, three
bishops, and two superintendents. I have learned many great lessons
from all the individuals I have met and with whom I have
worked.
While I will miss everyone, I am looking forward to the next
chapter. My wife, Lou Ann, retired from Mater Dei three years ago
and our son Kyle, and his wife Sara, just had their third child
(our 4th grandchild) and we are looking forward to spending more
time with them as they grow up. Hopefully, Lou Ann and I can also
do some traveling with friends, I can put some miles on my
motorcycle, and improve my golf game!
Know of my continued prayers and support for the students and
staff. I will do my best to assist Fr. Gary in the transition to
new leadership for St. Joseph. I am confident that with your
support and prayers, our school will continue to deliver the
outstanding teaching and learning environment that has been the
trademark of St. Joseph for more than 100 years in this
community.
Since first becoming a principal, I have started most of my
letters with the words, Hello, Everyone. Soon it will be time to
say, Goodbye, Everyone, instead. May God continue to bless the
students, staff, parents, and supporters of St. Joseph Catholic
School and Church during the upcoming semester and in the years to
come. Dan Gilbert Principal

“Year of Saint Joseph” Pope Francis recalls the 150th
anniversary of the declaration of Saint Joseph as Patron of the
Universal Church. To mark the occasion, the Holy Father has
proclaimed a “Year of Saint Joseph” from 8 December 2020, to 8
December 2021.
In honor of this great Saint, we have some Holy Cards with a
prayer to St. Joseph on them in the back of church. Please take one
and pray this prayer often during this year for your special
intentions. Did you know he is a very powerful intercessor?! St.
