Overview

Develop a professional development activity for all staff (including support staff) that helps to clarify the concept of weight bearing walls and incorporate it in an in-service day activity.
Current Setting/Background: Attached below are my tentative goals and expectations for the
professional and support staff for the 2010-2011 school year that will be part of the in-service activities in the new school year. The goals and expectations represent a continuation of goals and expectations as to improve academics and accountability in the district since the district was without leadership for a long period of time.

Goal Specific Objective/Activity/Notes Resources Needed1. To continue developing a Standards Aligned
System (SAS)curriculum to increase student achievement and growth in the PSSA scores.
A. Collaborate with CIU and Tuscarora Intermediate Unit to provide professional development and technical services for a SAS system.
***This goal will follow the Standards Aligned System model of the “Getting Results Framework” for school improvement. The staff will continue to be involved with curriculum reform with the new curriculum supervisor in curriculum development /staff development, and data analysis for instructional/student achievement and growth. Math revisions will continue and Language Arts upgrades will begin.

communication. ***Funds are specifically allocated for substitutes for our teachers to be trained on 3DM, PVAAS, Reading Apprenticeship, RTI, and many other researched-based practices that fall into this model. Please understand that teachers will be out of the classroom for embedded training (more than one training session in one subject or topic) to be retooled. Consultants from CIU, TIU, and others as needed will lead curriculum writing and expert consults in education fields (Math and Reading) will be working with all staff members in the classrooms and in and out of the school.

2 . To refine and improve the new Driver’s Education program.

3. To improve the Senior Project process. Reduce fund raising. Create “This is Glendale” Projects Involve students in projects that promote
the district or assist with district in an effort to reduce fundraising.

Communicate to the staff the courses and opportunities available through Blended Schools on a routine basis.
Expand Blended Schools to the elementary level
Use Blended Schools for gifted programming for courses not offered at GSD.
Use Blended Schools for course make up for at-risk or failing students.
Use Blended Schools for alternative education to reduce district costs.

Apply for only select competitive grants with Board approval for projects/programs that fit into the district’s Strategic Plan.
Continue to use competitive bidding, CO-Stars, PEPPM, etc.
Explore partnerships and consortiums. Explore various technologies to reduce
costs such as timing devices/software for HVAC.
Take over BMOS/SMS systems in lieu of contracting for services and better utilize staff.
Better utilization of professional staff. Hire staff with multiple certifications. Shared services (districts / IU’s.)
