FIRST READINGR: The first Reading for All Saints Day is

written in chapter seven of Daniel beginning at verse one.

Daniel 7:1-3,15-18 CEVDaniel's vision of the holy ones of the Most High

Page 26: WELCOME

Daniel 7:1-3,15-181-2Daniel wrote:In the first year of King Belshazzar of

Babylonia, I had some dreams and visions while I was asleep one night, and I wrote them down.

Page 27: WELCOME

Daniel 7:1-3,15-18The four winds were stirring up the

mighty sea,3when suddenly four powerful beasts came out of the sea. Each beast was different.

15 I was terrified by these visions, and I didn't know what to think.

Page 28: WELCOME

Daniel 7:1-3,15-1816So I asked one of those standing there

and he explained, 17"The four beasts are four earthly

kingdoms. 18But God Most High will give his kingdom to his chosen ones, and it will be theirs forever and ever."

This is the Word of the Lord.C: Thanks be to God.

Page 29: WELCOME

R: The Psalm is Psalm 149.1Shout praises to the LORD! Sing him a new song of praise when

his loyal people meet.C: 2People of Israel, rejoice

because of your Creator. People of Zion, celebrate because

of your King.

Psalm 149 CEV

Page 30: WELCOME

R: 3Praise his name by dancing and playing music on harps and tambourines.

C: 4The LORD is pleased with his people, and he gives victory to those who are humble.

Psalm 149 CEV

Page 31: WELCOME

R: 5All of you faithful people, praise our glorious LORD!

Celebrate and worship. C: 6Praise God with songs on your

lips and a sword in your hand. R: 7Take revenge and punish the

nations. C: 8Put chains of iron on their

kings and rulers.

Psalm 149 CEV

Page 32: WELCOME

R: 9Punish them as they deserve; this is the privilege of God's faithful people.

Shout praises to the LORD! C: Glory to the Father, and the

Son, and the Holy SpiritAs it was in the beginning is now

and will be forever. Amen.

Psalm 149 CEV

Page 33: WELCOME

SECOND READINGR: The second reading is written in

chapter one of Ephesians beginning at verse eleven.

Ephesians 1:11-23 CEVGod's blessings through Christ for his people

Page 34: WELCOME

Ephesians 1:11-2311God always does what he plans, and

that's why he had Christ choose us. 12He did this so that we Jews would bring honour to him and be the first ones to have hope because of him.

13Christ also brought you the truth, which is the good news about how you can be saved.

Page 35: WELCOME

Ephesians 1:11-23You put your faith in Christ and were

given the promised Holy Spirit to show that you belong to God. 14The Spirit also makes us sure that we will be given what God has stored up for his people. Then we will be set free, and God will be honoured and praised.

Page 36: WELCOME

Ephesians 1:11-2315I have heard about your faith in the

Lord Jesus and your love for all of God's people. 16So I never stop being grateful for you, as I mention you in my prayers. 17I ask the glorious Father and God of our Lord Jesus Christ to give you his Spirit.

Page 37: WELCOME

Ephesians 1:11-23The Spirit will make you wise and let

you understand what it means to know God.

18My prayer is that light will flood your hearts and that you will understand the hope that was given to you when God chose you.

Page 38: WELCOME

Ephesians 1:11-23Then you will discover the glorious

blessings that will be yours together with all of God's people.

19I want you to know about the great and mighty power that God has for us followers.

Page 39: WELCOME

Ephesians 1:11-23It is the same wonderful power he used

20when he raised Christ from death and let him sit at his right side in heaven. 21There Christ rules over all forces, authorities, powers, and rulers. He rules over all beings in this world and will rule in the future world as well.

Page 40: WELCOME

Ephesians 1:11-2322God has put all things under the

power of Christ, and for the good of the church he has made him the head of everything. 23The church is Christ's body and is filled with Christ who completely fills everything.

This is the Word of the Lord.C: Thanks be to God.

Page 41: WELCOME

C: Alleluia. Lord, to whom shall we go? You

have the words of eternal life. Alleluia. Alleluia.

Page 42: WELCOME

GOSPELM: The Holy Gospel is written in the

chapter six of the Gospel according to St Luke beginning at verse twenty.

C: Glory be to you, O Lord.

Luke 6:20-31 CEVBlessed are the poor and the persecuted

Page 43: WELCOME

Luke 6:20-31M: 20Jesus looked at his disciples and

said: God will bless you people who are poor.

His kingdom belongs to you! 21God will bless you hungry people. You will have plenty to eat! God will bless you people who are crying. You will laugh!

Page 44: WELCOME

Luke 6:20-3122God will bless you when others hate

you and won't have anything to do with you. God will bless you when people insult you and say cruel things about you, all because you are a follower of the Son of Man.

Page 45: WELCOME

Luke 6:20-3123Long ago your own people did these

same things to the prophets. So when this happens to you, be happy and jump for joy! You will have a great reward in heaven.

Page 46: WELCOME

Luke 6:20-3124But you rich people are in for trouble.

You have already had an easy life! 25You well-fed people are in for trouble. You will go hungry! You people who are laughing now are in for trouble. You are going to cry and weep!

Page 47: WELCOME

Luke 6:20-3126You are in for trouble when everyone

says good things about you. That is what your own people said about those prophets who told lies.

Page 48: WELCOME

Luke 6:20-3127This is what I say to all who will listen

to me: Love your enemies, and be good to everyone who hates you. 28Ask God to bless anyone who curses you, and pray for everyone who is cruel to you. 29If someone slaps you on one cheek, don't stop that person from slapping you on the other cheek.

Page 49: WELCOME

Luke 6:20-31If someone wants to take your coat,

don't try to keep back your shirt. 30Give to everyone who asks and don't ask people to return what they have taken from you. 31Treat others just as you want to be treated.

This is the Gospel of the Lord.C: Praise be to you, O Christ.

We sing our next hymn

How sweet the name of Jesus sounds

V. 1,5-7LH 161 CAL293John Newton (1725-1807), alt.

Page 61: WELCOME

How sweet the name of Jesus sounds

• 1. How sweet the name of Jesus sounds

• In a believer’s ear! • It soothes his sorrows, heals his

wounds, • And drives away his fear. •  • 5. Jesus, my shepherd, guardian,

friend, • My prophet, priest, and king, • My Lord, my life, my way, my end, • Accept the praise I bring. •  • 6. Weak is the effort of my heart, • And cold my warmest thought; • But when I see You as You are, • I’ll praise You as I ought.•  • 7. Till then I would Your love

proclaim • With every fleeting breath; • And may the music of Your name • Refresh my soul in death.•  •
