I Heard the Voice of Jesus Say

I heard the voice of Jesus say, “Come unto Me and rest;Lay down, thou weary one, lay down Thy head upon My breast.”I came to Jesus as I was, Weary, and worn, and sad;I found in Him a resting place, and He has made me glad.

I heard the voice of Jesus say, “Behold, I freely giveThe living water; thirsty one, Stoop down, and drink, and live.”I came to Jesus, and I drank Of that life-giving stream; My thirst was quenched, my soul revived, And now I live in Him.

I heard the voice of Jesus say, “I am this dark world’s Light;Look unto Me, thy morn shall rise, And all the day be bright.”I looked to Jesus, and I found In Him my Star, my Sun;And in that Light of life I’ll walk, ’Til traveling days are done.

Lyrics by Horatius Bonar (1846); music by John B. Dykes (1823–1876)

Hymn 379 • Take My Life and Let It Be

Take my life and let it be Consecrated, Lord, to Thee;Take my moments and my days—Let them flow in ceaseless praise,Let them flow in ceaseless praise.

Take my will and make it Thine—It shall be no longer mine;Take my heart—it is Thine own,It shall be Thy royal throne,It shall be Thy royal throne.

Judas Betrays Jesus

Matthew 26:1–19, 36–50

People deny or betray Jesus with sinful attitudes and actions.

“A Mighty Fortress Is Our God”

How did Judas betray Jesus?

By showing that he loves Jesus by obeying Him.

As a family, read Matthew 26:1–19, 36–50.

Our membership classes are designed to cut through this doctrinal confusion and fully equip every incoming member for his or her role as part of the local body. With this priority, membership classes ensure that every believer who commits to Grace Church understands the gospel, the theological distinctives of a healthy church, and what the Bible teaches about membership. Each new member is shepherded by a team of our elders to contribute to and benefit from this local expression of the body of Christ.

Asking our regular attenders to attend these classes highlights our conviction that the Word is the means Christ uses to build and add to His church, not complex programs or simplistic “one-conversation-and-done” membership affirmations. In fact, we think this teaching is so important

to the long-term health of our church family that membership classes are available both at 8:30 and 10:30 a.m. on the first three Sundays of every month (except for December and July). That adds up to 60 separate classes in a year! Our desire is to make this teaching as accessible as possible, because the biblical truth that’s communicated is our first and greatest means of ministry success.

If you are one of the hundreds of regular attenders who have not yet joined Grace Community Church, we pray you would sit under this teaching and truly become a part of our church family. Stop by the member center today and register for the next membership class—first or second hour. Let us help you maximize your ministry in your new church home.

Did the early church have membership classes? It doesn’t seem likely. You may wonder, then, why do we ask our incoming members to attend classes?

The answer is simple—the prevalence of unhealthy doctrine has confused many believers’ understanding of salvation and the local church. Errant teaching concerning salvation and the early church has led many today to make the fatal error of equating membership with salvation. Others need focused teaching on the doctrine of the church because they see church membership as something like joining a country club, in that the church exists solely for their own personal satisfaction and well-being. Although there are some who seem to understand membership and thrive, many do not and struggle.

Good Neighbors

As a courtesy to our neighbors, please avoid parking in front of the houses surrounding Grace Church. Instead, use one of the designated parking lots indicated above. If street parking is unavoidable, we urge you to be especially attentive to and considerate of our neighbors’ comfort and property.

Open Arms Pregnancy Clinic Annual Fundraising BanquetThere is perhaps no greater threat to the most defenseless people in our society than the constitutionally-protected right to murder an unborn child. As disciples of Jesus, it remains our responsibility to speak for those who cannot advocate for themselves. Put simply, the church is called to do something about abortion. To that end, Grace Church partners with Open Arms Pregnancy Clinic (OAPC), a pregnancy help ministry in Northridge.

The annual OAPC fundraising banquet will held this Friday, March 27, at West Valley Christian Church in West Hills. If you would like to support this ministry, please consider attending. For more information, please contact the Local Outreach office at 818-909-5721 or visit withopenarms.org.
