Remote Teaching

Classes will be delivered online (otherwise circumstances change)

● Remote teaching is not like online degree teaching.○ We will have personal real-time interactions, relationship building, networking etc.,

similar to face-to-face classes.■ Classes are mostly synchronous manner (vs. asynchronous recorded videos).■ Hangout times with faculty.■ Online real-time events.

→ We are trying to make remote learning as close as to face-to-face learning experience.

● Besides that, online-based communication, technology and working skill sets, such as Zoom interview, presentation, webinar, will become the baseline in the future career. You should get used to those technologies throughout this program.

• To ensure you meet your program requirements to graduate

Cohort Model

● Cohort: a group of students who enter a program together and remain together throughout its duration.

● Students complete the program in the expected timeframe.● You are ensured enrollment into all of your classes by your

advisor.● Schedules will be balanced in regards to days and times of the

week throughout each term. MSRE will be one cohort.● Classes are completed in the recommended sequence

outlined in the academic catalog.

•Fall 2020 Trimester: 14 core units + electives = 16-18 units

SHC Service Fees

● The SHC provides low-cost health services to any enrolled Pepperdine student, regardless of insurance type● A student's initial visit each semester is $70 and each subsequent visit within the semester ranges between $25 to

$50, depending on the complexity of the visit● Labs, prescriptions, and specialty services are additional charges; however, the SHC strives to keep fees as low as

possible

Payment for SHC Services

● Although the SHC does not bill insurance directly, it provides a walkout statement (superbill) to patients as well as directions regarding how to seek reimbursement from their insurance plan

● Students have the option of billing their student account or paying by cash or check● PPO plans typically reimburse SHC services at out of network rates while HMO, MediCal, and MediCare plans

generally do not reimburse

University Health Insurance Requirement

In order to limit undue financial and academic stress related to illnesses during the academic year, the University requires students to carry a U.S. based health insurance plan.

To meet this requirement, new and returning students must select one of two options on the AHP Insurance Dashboard:

1. Confirm the SHIP option by clicking the ENROLL button, or2. Provide proof of an existing health insurance plan by clicking the WAIVE button

Students can access the AHP Insurance Dashboard on the Health Insurance webpage at pepperdine.edu/healthcenter.

Students can learn more about SHIP or access the SHIP brochure by visiting Academic HealthPlans’ customer care online resource center at pepperdine.myahpcare.com.

AHP Insurance Dashboard is Open: May 15-August 15

Final Waiver Deadline: September 5

Students who enroll in SHIP for the fall term will automatically roll over to spring/summer enrollment but have the option to waive the spring/summer SHIP through the AHP Insurance Dashboard between November 15 and February 1.

Required Immunizations and Testing

Prior to entering Pepperdine University, all Malibu registered Graziadio Business School students must complete their health history form and document the required vaccinations.

Students may visit their patient portal at pepperdine.medicatconnect.com to complete these requirements online. All medical records must be in English.

Patient Confidentiality

The Student Health Center strictly adheres to the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA) guidelines and regards all medical information to be highly confidential.

Students can rest assured their permission will be obtained before any health information is given to anyone not directly connected to their medical care. This applies to parents and University officials.

Exceptions required by law include, but not limited to, reporting certain communicable diseases, threats of suicide or homicide, or suspected abuse of children or elderly persons.

Practice Healthy Habits

● Wash your hands often with soap and water for at least 20 seconds.● Cover your cough or sneeze with a tissue and immediately throw the tissue in the trash.● If possible, stay home from work, school, and errands when you are sick.● Get your flu shot. Students can receive a free flu vaccine at the Student Health Center.● Avoid close contact with all people, especially those who are sick.● Avoid touching your eyes, nose, and mouth.● Clean and disinfect frequently touched objects and surfaces.● Avoid sharing drinks or eating utensils with others, even when neither of you is showing symptoms.● Get adequate sleep, be physically active, manage your stress, drink plenty of fluids, and eat nutritious food.
