Class-related Paper for social interaction class:
Michael Wolff, "A 'With' Without, or The Child Alone," Spring
1972,21 pages, stamped "For Library Use Only." Note: Efforts to
track down further information on the author (who is also cited in
Relations in Public) have been to no avail. He is not the
semi-notorious New York writer Michael Wolff who writes on media
and celebrities. In this study, Wolff had his two young children
ride on the Brooklyn subway, apparently unaccompanied, with Wolff
close by to observe how they were treated by strangers in public.
Goffman commented at some length on this paper in class, saying
that he was somewhat disturbed by the tactics employed.
