MAXIMISING ATTENDANCE AT SCHOOL If your child is unwell then home in bed is the best place for them otherwise all students are expected to attend school for the whole day to maximise their learning opportunities. Please try to make appointments for your child outside of school hours or first thing in the morning and then they can return to school once the appointment is completed. If you are needing to pick your child up early because you have to go to work then consider enrolling your child for After School Care or allowing them to walk home so that they are not missing out on school. TRY NOT TO TAKE THE EASY WAY OUT Please use our school crossings so that you are teaching your child to be safe when crossing roads. I know it can be quicker to take the indented pathway or cross between cars to shorten the walk but we are very lucky to have so many crossings and we should be using them. SCHOOL PHOTOS Our student photos have been delivered to the school and will be distributed to the classrooms before the end of the week. Please don’t forget we are having our whole school photo taken on 11th May. Students are required to wear long sleeve green school tops or jackets and the Year 6 can wear their black jackets. Principal Views PLANNING FOR 2022 As you are probably aware there will be a new primary school opening in Wollert in De Rossi Boulevard in January 2022. This new school is expected to have an impact on our student enrolment as our new zone is now almost half the size of what it was this year. Families who are already enrolled in our school and living in the new zone can remain at our school or transfer to the new school. We are asking that if you know that you will definitely be transferring to the Wollert East PS (interim name) then please email me or contact the office as soon as possible so that we can begin our forward planning for 2022. The Planning Committee is pleased to say that the building works are well on track for completion by the end of this year and the process of selecting the new principal is now in progress. PLEASE DON’T FORGET There are no teachers on active supervision in the school yard until 8:45am. Classroom doors open at 8:50am. Our school grounds are locked outside of school hours. People jumping the fences or entering locked premises are considered trespassing. Our school has a policy where we do not share gifts, food etc from families at school celebrating children’s birthdays. We do not allow families to distribute lolly bags, food, cakes, gifts etc within the school. The class teacher will celebrate your child’s birthday in the class. Keep your hands and feet to yourself.
