Music
Music classes with Mr Mander started yesterday. Mr Mander was very impressed and it seems we have some talented musicians in our school.
It will be lovely to see them improving over the year.
Spelling Bee
Our school spelling bee is this Thursday 1st August.
The word lists are available on the Premiers Spelling Bee website. Due to copyright we are not able to put the password for this sight in the newsletter but we are able to tell it to you if you would like to go the site.
We will be commencing our Kindergarten transition program, Lansdowne Little Learners, for students starting Kindergarten in 2020 this week.
Our Lansdowne Little Learners will get together every second Thursday this term and every Thursday in Term 4.
This transition program is very successful ensuring students feel confident in the school environment before beginning school next year. They become familiar with the classroom, playgrounds, students and teachers. Students will learn classroom routines and join in lessons with our current Kindergarten students.
Each student will be matched with a buddy who will help them throughout each session. Their buddy will establish a friendship with them and will be available to help them in their first few weeks of school next year.
The dates for each session are listed on the back of this letter. Attendance at each session is not compulsory; however, we recommend that they attend as many sessions as possible.
Parents are welcome to stay with their child for the first 2 or 3 sessions if needed. After that they should be confident to stay on their own as it gives us the opportunity to observe how they separate from their parents/carers.
If you have any questions about enrolling your child for next year please contact the school on 65567147. We look forward to meeting you soon.
The next P & C meeting will be held on Friday the 23rd August in the school library. The meeting will commence at 2.00pm. Everyone is most welcome to come along and join in. Our P & C is very important to this school. We raise money for various programs which benefit the students and staff. Not only do we run a uniform shop and our canteen there are all the other events like the Mother’s Day and Father’s Day stalls and the Movie Premier. We also have a Christmas raffle at the end of the year.
We have our Father’s Day stall coming up on Thursday the 29th September. This will be held at the school usually from around 9.30am. We will be looking for some helpers to wrap items for the children. Also, donations of items for the stall costing anything from between $1.00 and $6.00 would be appreciated.
Canteen news
Single serve Cheese Pizza’s will be on sale from next week. Toppings can be chosen from Pineapple, Ham, Tomato. Cost is $2.50 just for cheese and .30cents each for the extra fillings.
We have asked before but one more try. There are only two of us in the canteen and we really would like at least one more helper in the canteen each Monday & Friday. If we cannot get some helpers to come along, then there are going to be some days where we may have to close the canteen.
If you are interested in helping come along on a Monday and/or Friday and see what happens. It is not hard work and you get to know the children and staff better.
