It has become an Easter weekend tradition at South Main. Packing up early Friday morning and heading out to the Metroplex. Of course, preparing for the trip began months before as students and parents began practicing a host of Christian leadership skills. This year’s theme was “Make Him Known”. North Texas Leadership Training for Christ (we call it, LTC) own stated purpose is to plan, organize, and promote programs that assist young Christians in developing their knowledge of the Bible and biblical principles, enhancing their communication and leadership skills, and orienting their energies and abilities to areas of Christian service. The first LTC Convention was held in Dallas back in 1989. This convention has now expanded to three sites in the Dallas area, including the one our students attend at the DFW airport. This year, more than 20,000 students participated in more than a dozen conventions around the world. At the end of the convention, the students received medals in bronze, silver and gold, based on how well they did in each event. And while this is a truly exciting moment, we remind our students that it’s not about what they have re-ceived, but what they have learned and how they will hon-or God with that experience. Today we receive our students, listening to them like the early church listened to Paul and Barnabas when they had returned from a trip, and commend them on the journey they have taken and encourage them on the journey they continue to take in “Making Him Known” here at home.
